What's it Worth 440 block .030 over. Needs one sleeve.

Most scrap dealers here will give about $20 for the block. Anything more is a bonus.

I was going to say $300, but ask $200 if you want to get rid of it more quickly.

Can you post a better picture of the cylinder crack? Just curious, that's all.
Sure.

I don’t mind being teased. I can take it almost as well as I give it!

I have a C coded 440 ('67) in my backyard that has no use. Broken ears and cracks in the water jacket.

It is not worth my while dealing with tweakers and drop-kicks by advertising it.

Do I use it to grow Begonia's, or should I just fill it up with Chives and Mint? Tough choice....BTW it is already bored 60-thou over.

Picture added for the naysayers who think I make this stuff up.

I’ll play along…
If the blocks are as rare there as I’d think they are, what would it cost to sleeve all 8 ?

At least Greg's has value (with a sleeve) Yours is worth the $20 and not worth the effort to haul it somewhere unless it needs to go. Long sleeve or short sleeve? Asking for a friend. :poke:

Sleeve one, and the rest are fine - you saved seven times what you just spent.

I have to wear long sleeves at work..... rules you know.

I meant that one of yours that is .060 over.
Here? Yeah… the other cylinders are barely used.

I would not bother with mine - it's either a flower pot or a coffee table.

Have a buddy that sleeved all 8 years ago but it was a numbers matching block to a fairly rare car. He has a small machine shop like I do and we were able to do it. Lots of work but 'doing it yourself' is cheap.....

I'm not a machinist, but boring all 8 cylinders after sleeving them sounds like a nightmare.

Think of it this way Greg, It's a 440 block (only) that needs repair. It has value but not much because it isn't anything special. Selling it may be a problem. It has to be cheap because shipping is really out of the question. That really narrows down your buying audience.

Being a 'mocheanist' helps but yeah, it's work.....but not really a nightmare.

I sat a series of aptitude tests in England back in 1991, and discovered I should have been a Plumber. Scored above 90%, and around 82% for electrical.

I took the Sparky jobs.
Didn't want to be a turd-herder, Rog?

Don't shoot me, I got that phrase from my plumber down at work lol
