I'm building a crate to send my Dash and Steering Column to Instrument-Specialties. My question for those who have sent their dash to Instrument-Specialties, do you have any drawings of what you built? Did you attach it to a pallet?

Regarding the actual dash, did you remove the VIN plate first? If you did, how did you replace the rivets? Do they remove the VIN plate and reattach? I don't know if I like the idea of my VIN plate leaving my garage, but I also don't want it to look like it's been swapped out (by me or them).

Lastly, did you laser etch or stamp somewhere inside the dash so you know the one you get back is your dash?

Thanks in advance for any information as I want to fully understand the process from someone who's experienced it. And yes, I can be a bit paranoid/non-trusting :)

Talk to Tom up there. He’ll take care of you. They can redo the vin plate. They’re a trustworthy, honest bunch. You’ll get your exact parts back everytime unless something is completely trash and they have to replace it with another in which they would call you and let you know that

They are top notch, honest and do a great job. And yes call Tom. Mike the owner is a upstanding owner.

Got it. I made a crate and shipped everything. Shows it arrived yesterday so it's in their hands now.

I built the crate on the pallet I got from AMD with all my parts. It was a 4'x6' pallet that I cut down to 2x6 so it worked nicely. I built a crate that was roughly 2x2x6 (minus a inch all around to hopefully it from getting hit). I mounted the dash to the bottom of the crate using metal brackets to to edge.that mounts under the windshield (2 center holes & outside) as well as the bottom slots that attach to the outside pillars. I made the dash high in the crate as I also sent the steering column - again using metal brackets to attach to bolt holes in the side of the steering column

All in all I think it should have survived the trip from SC to RI.
