I am a bit apprehensive about taking my project to a local car show I know probably all the other cars will be spot on and mine will look like a rat rod in comparison. Do any of you take your projects to car show just for the hell of it?

People take there project cars to shows around here all the time. I wouldn't worry about it at all. Get out there and show that thing off! :headbang:

Go for it! I've gained plenty of ideas and tips from folks that bring their project cars to a show.

I never see projects down here in TX, I wish we had more show up with projects. This is getting me thinking; we got a big MOPAR show in Oct here, I think I'm going to take my GTX there, and see how that goes...not too sure if there is any categories for 'work in progress', but there should be!

We don't see enough project cars around here. I like to see 'em. I once belonged to a club and we used to put on a big show with a class that was called 'rusty buckets'. We encouraged people to bring everything from barn finds to projects. We got a great response to the class.

Don,t be a farid to take your car unfinished...Alot of shows auctually have prizes for the project class...Besides you,ll probably be the only MoPar there any ways!!!!Theres a free car show in Auburn Fri night...I,ll be there!!!!

Go for it many people do in this area. I would venture to say that at every cruise in I go to there is at least 1 or 2 cars in primer. In fact at the All Mopar Show earlier this year they had a class for Mopar project cars.

I say go for it.
I am all for the drivers.

My 71 Javelin is driveway paint, duct taped seats, etc.

My 74 RR is some front end work away from being a driver.
And its a runny budget spray job.

Thanks guys I think I 'll do it, It's a local Napa Auto Parts put on show benefiting a charity as well. And I will probably be the only MOPAR there lol TOO many Chebys around here any way, I have not seen any B-bodies here at all hoping to see some. The MOPAR rally in Fremont,Ca. has a class of projects too but not sure about this local one. I could probably make it to Sac but not sure about Auburn lol not too far here in the delta. any way any local Cal peeps Aug 20th in Brentwood Napa auto parts

Hell, the first year I took mine to a show (under construction class) I got 3rd and the following year I got 1st. So yeah, by all means take that bad boy to the show and have fun!!

I drove this around like this until i finally put it Primer as it still is today and i drive it to shows all the time!I just don`t enter it into Judge Shows but will drive it there!
Next year pulling the drive train out to put in to a 69 Road Runner and that will also be a project car,as i just love to drive it while working on it and saving my MONEY for Paint and body work!

Finished or not, I want to see any old cars in a show. Its the new iron that could be left at home or parked in a spectator lot.

Crazy things happen when projects are at shows. My buddy had his Challenger about 75% done and brought it to a show. Someone came up to him and told him that he had a lot of E body trim. They put a deal together.

I agree and soon as I get mine road ready, but not finished, I'm taking mine to a local cruise night. Every Monday night is "MOPAR MONDAY". Will try and get a few pics too. Gives me motivation to get things rolling again.

i say sure thake your projects, we need to prove that we build them ourselves, i've seen too many guys with deep pockets that find their dream car, fork out the big bucks and have it sent to every shop in town to get it tricked out and then call themselves car guys, we have a local coffee cruise where the rich folks go to the dealer and but a brand new porsche or MBZ drag it to the show and call eachother car guys... when i roll out my original max wedge i don't even wipe the dirt off and they call it a piece of crap, little do they know my dirty piece of crap is worth more than their shinny piece of crap anyday...
