Is this guy serious

and you can finance it!! $32 bucks for 24 months!!….such a deal...

Great Lakes Mopar....Yeah he is serious..Lol

He has a lot of nice NOS parts for big $$$$. He also has some premo ultra rare restored Mopars

It all falls to how much are you willing to pay for a NOS part for your car. If you have a rare X then one would pay big bones for this part... 650 bucks to them is like a 150 to you...

I have bought some parts from GLM and they are top notch parts. Funny thing is I bought the same NOS plate from him about 5 months ago for my X but I didn't pay that much:thankyou:

That repo bezel is junk compared to an original btw

Well some like to troll asking a huge price just in case there's someone out there drooling for it. Hell, I've paid dumb prices for stuff on occasion...

It definitely pays to shop around. I too have paid some pretty dumb prices for things cause I jumped thinking I wouldn't otherwise find it - only to see it later for half the price.

These guys with rare parts kind of have you by the short hairs if you can't find it elsewhere.

That is as simple as you could put it......The other end of the token is the big three NOS guys out there do not even need the money. So add that to a rare part and hence is the prices they try to get....

I guess if you had a Hemi GTX and deep pockets you would buy it, however its out of reach for the common car enthusiast. Mine is a original Mopar part but id never ask ridiculous prices for it.

Hence you have neither.....So you really cannot relate. Your just basing it off your need and a limited budget. Don't take that the wrong way and trust me I bitch every day Bout the cost of parts.

As you know personally if you buy a part from me it is not for profit and a nice part for a true hobbyist's price.

It is his part and not yours.....Are the prices outrageous, sure but it won't change anything as far as prices go...They don't need the money obviously...

I can relate as i have a friend who has a rare expensive car that might warrant that kind of money for such a minor part. Still i got a nice surprise as i forgot i had the same part, mine being used of course.

Trust me I would love to have found a mint used one....

That woodgrain acrylic pieces are very very rare....

Back to GLM....At the time I was needed two mint rear shock plates with readable pn's and Chrysler stamp...He came up with a pair and his price was 2500...Yes that's his real number. I told him to hang them up as wall art in his shop, lol....

Just keep in mind what makes these guys push prices it's not just cause it is nos. Even a nos part may have some pitting or unreadable stampings. In the OE gold world that part has to look the same as the day it rolled out....So no pitting, ding dents scratches, readable stampings and correct finish.

You can find those plates all day long but in that shape they are very rare. Hence, these pricks price it as unobtainable.

However, I was able to acquire two sets...I asked him if he wanted to buy a pair at half his price, lol.....

Yes, as mentioned, this guys prices are stupid. I just wish people would band together and refuse to pay these prices. See if when he has no business he can trade them in at the grocery store for food. Bottom line in America though is, "You can ask any amount you wish if you own it!

I could ask 100,000,000 for a new penny in a thousand years it maybe worth it to someone.

when your doing that 1 of 1 or just a rare resto and you want NOS that the price your gona pay . bitch and moan all you want. he has it, knows there's not another one out there and knows that somewhere sometime joe blogs is going to spring for it for his super duper platinum resto

Just an FYI he doesn't need the money...He could care less whether it sold or not. These guys are very wealthy...

I can vouch for that, you've helped me out on several occasions for the 67. Much appreciated!

Ebay parts are getting more and more expensive, and limited selection with heavy bias towards dealers. Lots of outrageous $$$ NOS and horrible quality repops. I think the NOS ebay dealers are trying to artificially push the parts market higher than it actually is. The NOS houses like Tonys appear to be more reasonable.

Ebay prices, maybe its the fees? I sold off some expensive parts on ebay and got raked over the coals with seller fees from the evil triumvirate of UPS, Ebay and Paypal. I am finding myself more on craigslist these days. Helps that I have no interest, or money, for NOS for my project.

It's as basic a "supply and demand" and let's face it, there's one born every minute.

When I was putting my GTX together, I couldn't find one for a 68 for 2 years. I finally bought one for a 69 when I was doing my interior. I paid 75 bucks for it. Great condition. After I got the car on the road, and drove it for a couple years, one popped up for a 68 on ebay. I won that one for $125.00. After I received and installed it, i put the 69 up for sale. $325.00!!!!!!
The 68 piece is far more difficult to find and as far as I know is not repopped. I guess I was in the right place at the right time for both.

Wow! Was this thread ever a eye opener. I have a 69 SS convert, and i know some parts are expensive, mainly the grill, trunk panel, taillights and the rear interior side panels for openers. I never knew that radio faceplate was so hard to find. Learn something new all the time with these cars, now i better go and lock the garage door LOL.... Thanks
