I know these didn’t even come out perfect on day one but wonder what you guys think. Also this paint on the rear trim panel looks brushed and the wrong color. Like purple instead of red. I don’t have anything to compare to around here in person. Thoughts?

pretty normal factory fit....... most guys clean that stuff up before a repaint, at least I do.......... the lower part of those quarter extensions are seam sealed by the factory before paint where it meets the tail light panel

I'd say maybe it was removed and reinstalled for a paint job, but probably not....... the goofy fit looks normal to me

the seam sealer at the bottom is missing, it may have been just chipped out and extension not disturbed

i'd think if it was removed, this area would be much cleaner.......looks like someone was a little lazy on the prep

Interesting. I don't know anything about what other examples look like or have anyone around to bounce these questions off of. I just know these cars were never perfect and am curious about my car's history is all. Is the red on your tail panel RED or kind of purple like mine? I assume these were actually taped and sprayed clean. Which I see when looking at photos of expensive restoration examples on ebay but finding a survivor one to inspect is much more difficult. I was planning to strip, tape, and spray it correctly this winter if that is indeed correct.

The tail panel paint looks ok, it should not be red, should be maroon in color.

Really? The one I keep seeing that guy on FB and ebay trying to sell as unused NOS is bright red. But it's hard to tell online sometimes.
