Seems like forever ago I dropped my engine off at the builder. Today he called me up and said to come over to hear it start up. He will be dyno'n it all week to work the kinks out, but man the smile I had going on when that motor fired up was ear to ear. Big word of praise to Dave Purifoy at Purifoy Racing in Genoa, Arkansas. Dave really knows his stuff, and is just one of the nicest guys you ever want to work with. He also has raced competitively in the Outlaw Altered Fuel series for many years. In my neck of the woods, he is the guy you go to for top notch builds.

Nothing sounds like a BB Mopar.... I heard one with 2 big holleys and a blower and it didn't sound at idle all that different than a bone stock 440. They just sound B/A

Sounds good! Dyno pulls?

This week he is going to be doing the dyno sessions. He is going to do some testing with the current manifold, then swap it out with a Performer RPM and do the tests again for comparison. I should know by the end of the week where the engine HP/Torque figures line up.

Initial Dyno testing last night - I will let you guys help me judge. Only 3 pulls last night after changing the jetting and working on the timing. Dave liked the torque numbers, but thinks more can be gained after the rings seat and he changes the jetting again as it is still running a little rich. He is going to swap manifolds out today and do more testing. Because of my hood clearance issues, I have to go with the Performer RPM manifold. Here are the initial results.

With that amount of torque you better stock up on tires! Should be an excellent street engine!
