Big part of Tx has NO power and had none since Mon. Our came back yesterday evening.

The older I get the less I like cold

We had that cold spell crap, piles of snow
feet' of snow not 'just inches', just a couple weeks back,
for about 2 weeks, like 16+ days & nights,
when it gets down to the low teens here
it's freaken' cold, it's a different kind of cold
(I know real cold, I lived in Alaska, know it all too well)
we also had many power outages too
(f-en PG&E)
glad to have a wood stove & a generator
we got by just fine, use to it pretty much yearly
it still sucks ***

I really hate the shoveling snow
& the **** it ruins is the worst
as long as you can stay warm & dry, that's what's important

I'm all for all the above when it comes to energy & power supplies
not just inefficient regulated BS
But;
wind & solar power in the next 30 years,
let alone by 2030 my ***
huge problems in areas that depend on that crap now
even only 20%
freaken' eco-nazi's

One of the benefits(?) of living in northern Minnesota is that we plan to get snowed in and frigid weather every winter, don't like it, just gotta have a plan to deal with it. Top off the fuel oil when it gets below 100 gal, cut more wood, and test the generator once a month to make sure it starts if I need it.

I remember one summer years ago, I was on a motorcycle trip through the UP. Every driveway had a car; a 4x4 truck; and a snowmobile.

THEY knew how to plan.
