Made a little progress the last 2 nights. Time has been limited as its fair week and we've been there almost every night. I have the headliner trim installed. Word of advice here, order new clips, don't try to use the old ones. I had enough "good" clips for one side. Fought it tooth and nail. The old clips would not hold their shape and keep popping out of the trim. Finally got it. Other

Also have the vent window cleaned up and installed on the drivers door. The bottom bracket on the passenger side was broke off. Tomorrow will fire up the welder and fix that.

Working on getting the door glass cleaned up. Need to order new seals before these go in. Had to clean off overspray from a previous owners paint job. A little 0000 steel wool and windex does a nice job. Have the regulators lubed and working nicely.

Farting around in the shop this morning, first time in forever not sweating through my clothes. The weather has finally broke here in northern IL, the last 2 weeks the humidity has been terrible. Going through door parts and got tired of moving some trim pieces. So it was only logical to clean them up and install. I do not understand people sometimes. The trunk lip trim had so much paint and primer overspray it was rediculus. It is 4 screws to remove it! Cleaned up nice with some lacquer thinner and polish.

Got my helper monkey to wipe the buffing compound out of the trunk. PS if anyone sees my pass door handle, please send it home. I cannot find that thing anywhere, which blows my mind because it was disassembled in this shop and everything else from the doors was clearly bagged and tagged in a Tupper ware tub.

Making good progress even with fair week and all.

FYI, don't use white lithium grease on your door parts as it will harden and gunk up fast. Use a high grade bearing grease or Super Lube recommended in the video.

Finished cleaning the lower tail panel trim. Used some butyl tape I had laying around to make a "donut" around the studs. It squeezed out a little after I tightened it. Just removed the excess with a plastic putty knife. Should seal up nicely.

I suppose I will have to change out of flip flops before I weld up the vent window support.

Funny story about my helper monkeys. When my son was 2 he was out in the shop "helping" me rebuild a snowmobile. I was going to clean the carbs, but couldn't find the air blow gun. Finally after several hours of looking, I remembered him playing with it a few days earlier. I scoured the shop at his level, and sure enough found it on a low shelf stuffed between some boxes. Maybe I will have to question the monkeys on the whereabouts of my door handle.

Thanks for the tip. I saved and cleaned all of mine and have them stored to reuse. I don't mind buying new ones especially if they work better.

Another tip. If you have not already bought new ones buy the mylar vent window run channel weatherstips. There are repops but they are cheap plastic and tear easy. Ask me how I know?

I just ordered all the weather strip today from classic. Also ordered the vent window channel guides (the ones that attach to the front of the door glass). I hope they are the right ones, them suckers were expensive. I am removing the top screw on the vent window frame to install the side glass, I'm assuming that's why you asked.

Ok so we have a minor set back on the quarter window rebuild. I was test fitting the new rollers and there is a problem. The new rollers are not machined correctly. The groove is to narrow to fit into the channel. Got the mic out to see if I was just crazy. Turns out I'm not. Original is the top pic. Replacement is the bottom. I have emailed the seller to resolve this issue. I will keep you posted in case this becomes a problem to note for your restoration. Jason

Off of ebay. I don't want to release the sellers name until I see how the handle the issue. Trying to give them the benifit of the doubt. Hopefully it was just a mix up and it is resolved quickly. How did the painting go Jim?
