Just another 505 build

Definitely looking forward to getting it all setup. As far as porting, I'm just going to run the 270's OOTB. I'm gonna setup my springs thats recommended to my cam and throw em on. Trick Flow is saying 340-350 already out of the box and honestly I'm thrilled with that. 3400 lb car as well... Hell wonder if 9.99 is possible!!

First few pictures of unboxing them today. I'll keep you guys updated!

Nice work, looks good!
Does look good . I got a friend that has a low 8 second vega, that builds his own trans. He has ran one of his powerglides for I forget how many yrs. before it gave up 2 yrs ago. We used to run our 727`s for a whole season to 1 1/2 seasons behind the hemi, once my partner got it figured out. The development was up to todays standards back then either.

Hey guys, got the engine at the machine shop now and will start assembly hopefully soon. Set up the valve springs for the cam today, set the rockers as well. Changed out the retainers for titanium too! Will update when I can, for now enjoy some more photos! I love these heads!!

I thnk you're right there with your hp wish. Your specs are very similar to mine. I have the Victor MW heads, about the biggest difference between the 2. My dyno time was with the Indy intake and 2 750 eddies.

Hey guys... Had some bad luck this weekend. Went for my first pass in the car and right as I'm coming out of the burnout box the motor locks up. Took it apart the same night and this is what happened... I have no marks on any other pistons other than #3 and #7 where the seats actually came apart and out of the head... The passenger side head has 3 cylinders with material missing from the spark plug hole area... Any ideas on what may of happened? I had .100+ clearance from the piston to valve when I checked it. What a mess.

What was your piston to valve clearence?
What plugs were you running?
Did you disassemble the heads and check valve seats for seal and flatness?
Out of the box can be risky.
Quality is not what it use to be.

Man that’s a bugger, sorry man. One would think there was clearances issues but that was checked and hearing that the seats came loose and out of the head. These were OOTB, bolted right on?

Yes, all I did is change the springs to the cam, the spring pressures/heights were very similar between the stock Trick Flow springs and the ones that Howards recommended.

Call trickflow tell them they fell apart before you even got a pass in, see what they have to say. I think trickfows are considered some of the best OOTB heads on the market but this goes to show every head needs to be gone through.

I wouldn’t be so quick to blame the heads yet.

Any pictures of the pistons?
