Just picked up an original 426 Stage 3 Max Wedge engine-need the car now.

Just glad to see these things kept alive, from those with the means and wants.

Every now and then, think about the 69 RR I bought new, at the end of that year. For a crummy added $500-600, or whatever it was, I could of had a Hemi.

First new car, new wife, new kid...didn't add up, so stayed with the 383 hipo. Yeah, I know, real sob story, huh?

But, you've got a couple good chunks of history sitting there. You only live once, man. (If you think about it, pat 'em on the rear for me!)

Funny you mention the Road Runner. If you look in my pic, you'll see a Bahama yellow 69 RR that my Dad bought new-same story,he ordered it with all the go fast he could afford. 383, Air grabber, sure grip,4 speed and manual brakes steering. The only frills were Road wheels, racing stripes and fat Good years. It would run 13.85s bone stock-pretty damn good for a 383! I bought the car from him in 1975 after working a year at a fast food joint(you know, back in the days when you had to work for things that you wanted!). I made a street racer out of it(440 with a set of Stage 3 heads, a cross ram and one of the first N20 systems on the west coast). Luckily I saved all of the original parts. I plan to restore it to stock as my next project.

Yeah, I hear that!

Remember the 'intakes' I tripped on, one afternoon going home from work. Stopped for a little gas at a hole-in-the-wall station, went inside to pay. Sitting on the floor was a set of the long rams. Bare bones, and wanted $25 for 'em. Kinda figured those would place a pair of AFBs right on the 69 RR.

Really got shocked by the wife. She doesn't know the dif between a nut and bolt! Walked in the apartment with those intakes...she says 'I know what those are'. Wow.
She's from small town west Texas. Her dad knew a law officer who drove a 300, sporting those intakes. Used the car to chase down bootleggers. Would complain at his mechanic, the blasted thing would cut out over 150.

Never got a chance to try 'em. Baby brother scrapped 'em for me, since they were in his way.

Those old Mopars do run. I have a 1969 CHP Pursuit Polara-440. No doubt it will run 150. I have a steak dinner riding on whether or not it will beat the new CHP twin turbo Explorer in a quarter mile.
Couple of the newbies in the CHP office I retired from, need to see what an old Mopar can do!
Here's a pic of my car(first one in line. The Nevada Highway Patrol car was also mine, but was recently sold)

Oh yeah!

My first car (lol, already mentioned it elsewhere) was a 63 Sport Fury ragtop. Got it 64 used...salesman tried to tell me it was a ex-CHP chase car. That was in northern cal, not too far from SF, where I grew up. Probably lying through his teeth. But, only one car ever beat me street-wise...but that's another story.

All that I can say is nice find, and a max wedge and a hemi there is nothing better.

LOL, yeah he was lying, the CHP never used ragtops, nor 63 Sport Furys. Maybe had the same powertrain?

What did I know...just a dumb kid. Probably trying to pump me up, since from my choices given, I was told I'm getting the Plymouth. No, on the 64 goat, no on the 63 Vette. Those things were too fast! Ha!

There is a guy in Wichita Falls, Tx that has a 65 Plymouth Satellite or Fury that your 426 would fit right into. It has a Dans 60 rear end, and front disc brakes. Good condition. Asking $2500 OBO without the engine. PM me and I can find his number. I bought some Perf RPM heads from him.

good score...block looks like a street wedge to me..whats the pad say it is?...thats the only true way on a maxi
