Just purchased some Baer disc brakes..

Anyone ever run the rear Baer "Iron Sport" disc brake system? Jegs has them on sale for $470 when they are normally $700. I believe it uses the same Caliper as the Cobra Mustang. 11.7" Rear Drilled/Plated/Slotted Rotors. I'm using 11.3" 4-piston SSBC discs on the front (summit 'rebranded' but states SSBC on all components), but after a few close calls lately I figured it is worth the price to put discs all around. Just looking for some general reviews if any are available..
 
Rear disc brakes aren't going to improve anything on your car. You need better front brakes. Get rid of those tiny SSBC front rotors and put something bigger up front. Even the factory 11.75 setup will work better than those small SSBC brakes.

The best setup is a 13 inch rotor up front but that would require moving up to a 17 inch rim. If you're going to stay with a 15 inch rim then you'll have to stay with the factory 11.75 rotor.

I highly doubt that the factory disc brakes would have higher performance than the ssbc setup. The car had factory drums, anything is a superior improvement.
 
Dial in the bias with an adjustable proportioning valve, and 4 wheel disc is better, just look at the modern high performance cars.

With sophisticated ABS systems and hi perf tires at all 4 corners. A lot of GM front disc/rear drum combos work just fine in all but consistent high speed trials. The adjustable combo valve is a good idea, as modern systems have about a 70% front bias, as opposed to a 50-50 found on the old stuff.

The factory 11.75 setup will be better than the small rotor SSBC brakes. You'll notice more improvement going that way than by putting the rear disc brakes on.

If you want even better performance than the factory 11.75 setup then use the 11.75 rotors with a high quality multiple piston caliper.
 
The factory setup was less than 11.20" for B-Bodies. C-Bodies had 11.88" front rotors. Most used bendix four piston calipers, which are in no comparison to the SSBC calipers and hawk brake pads on the car now but thanks for your opinion. Of course a 11.88" rotor is going to be more efficient with your calipers than a 11.250" rotor but we are only talking (if at all) a few feet at the most. Thanks once again for all the input.
 
If you have 15 inch wheels then you can install the factory B-body 11.75 disc brakes. That setup is the best available that fits under 15 inch rims. The C-body 11.75 setup would be even better, but it is more complicated to install on a B-body car. I have a B-body project car which will be getting C-body brakes in the near future, but that swap isn't something that most people would want to tackle. The 11.75 swap is very easy and most of the parts are easy to find. The 11.75 caliper adapters can be a little tougher to find, but they are out there.
