Im new to mopars and my question is this. The engine in my 69 sport satellite is a 383 two barrel this is what the VIN # tells me . The engine # indicate a 1969 383 2 barrel but the block# are about two hundred numbers different than the VIN. So my thinking is this is not the original motor. Would that be correct. The numbers on the radiator support by comparison match the VIN so I'm thinking its the original. Am i correct?

yes, but curious your only off by 200. But the odds of getting so close is Interesting. Are you referring to the VIN# on the block being 200 off?

Yes the block numbers on the pad are only off about 200 or so from the fender tag. The car came with a 383 non HP 2 barrel. The motor in the car is a non HP motor and a 1969. I have some bills with the car back to around the eighty's so my guess is the motor was pulled sometime up untill then. It had been a Florida car for a long time. If i assume the motor went south and they put in a junkyard engine it would have to come out of a car built very close to the time mine was built and wound up in Florida. Sounds like quite a coincidence to me but what do you think

Quite a coincidence. The main thing is you have a nice car there. I Think these b body cars are so scarce anymore, that not having the correct VIN block means squat. There are people everywhere trying to find a nice hardtop, so enjoy the car I say!
It's only going to go up in value.

I disagree....It means your car is worth considerably more, to a real collector, to have the original drivetrain in it.

I respectfully disagree, the market is strong for these cars. I don't see collectors stocking up on two barrel 383 Sport satellites. I have both Numbers matching and non matching, and they both are in high demand, and it is a sellers market. A non matching two barrel 383 satellite will bring every bit as much as a numbers matching if the car is nice, because the majority of the new buyers are upgrading them anyway, and condition is everything.(translates=money) Now, an original R/T, or GTX,or other rare model, then what you say is absolutely true.

""the market is strong for these cars.""...""it is a sellers market""

It is? Not sure where you get that...Barrett-Jackson's phoney world? I see B-bodys ( as well as other cars) on ebay, and other car sites, not selling all the time. I think they, along with other cars, are just starting to , possibly, recover from the 2008 downturn. As with everything else in this world, there are exceptions.

Just my $0.02....

I agree, I have had both and the car I have now with the upgrades attracts alot more attention and is 3 times more fun to drive. Each of the cars being discussed is appealing to different markets.
