I am overhauling my 440 and it is a very low mile std bore that still has the cross hatch visible. I want to bump the comp so I was thinking of using the KB236 step head pistons. I want to get your take on these pistons, good bad or otherwise. the eng is a rv with six pk rods and a steel crank open chamber big valve 902 heads with I believe 85cc chambers. I want around 9.5 to 10.0 to 1. the cam is yet undecided and I think the edelbrock rpm will be the manifold of choice, topped off with a 750 holley double pump HP carb.

i'm using the kb184's in both my 440's with iron heads. pump gas friendly and have never had an issue with the pistons. be sure and follow the instructions for the top ring end gap.

I'm running KB 237's with 915 heads in a mild street 440 and no problems thus far. I have pushed it to 6000 - 6200 RPM through the lights. As said above, watch your ring gap.

I’m running them with Eddy Performer RPM 88cc heads for about 10.2:1 CR, .020 over. No complaints here.

File fit your rings per cylinder...and piston..specifically if its not to late take the set of pistons down and have EACH cylinder honed to a specific piston....also...do your self the favor and re chamfer ALL the leading edges on the top of the piston.( valve pockets, step up)..this will keep the tops of your pistons from carbon caking....and YES it does work...and yes it is worth the time and effort..
