Key on AMP draw - 8.5A

Hello

So I was checking my AMP draw with key on - no fans, no lights, unpluged electric choke, only key on and there is 8.5 AMP draw checking on negative battery side. When opening door and interior lights are lit, there is 10.5 AMP draw.
Also I dont know if my points where closed or open if this make any change.

When unpluged voltage regulator IGN side it came down from 8.5 to 4.5 AMPs.

Isnt that too much?

Factory coil and ignition system? Or do you have some type of CD box like an MSD unit?

Are you having problems with a dead battery?

If your points are closed of course you'll have a lot of amp draw. Unhook distributor wire at the coil or remove distributor cap and block the points with a piece of plastic or cardboard. Key in the run position will burn up points real quick.

OK will check draw with distributor unhooked from coil and report back.
Yes I'm having some issues with charging.

OK so without distributor it was 4.5 AMP draw, and than disconnecting IGN at VR it was 0.01 AMP total draw.
So total 4.5 points + 4.5 VR ~= 9.0 AMP draw on key on

Is that ok?
