I have a streetfighter 727 and kick down wont go all the way back it is jammed up. It worked fine for the last 4 years. I havent dropped the pan yet. Anybody ever had this happen before?

are you sure your kickdown rod is not being interfered with something hanging down or in the way that is located on the firewall? secondly, did your kickdown secure bolts loosen up and cause it to be out of adjustment? have you tried to readjust the kickdown to no avail? I would first look at your linkage before dropping the pan, that is unless, you have manually tried to move the throttle pressure lever backwards but it would not go... need more information.

Do you have a stock linkage or a cable conversion. That would help as well.
Did you try disconnecting the linkage and move the lever manually

727 kickdown

It is a cable conversion! I did try to move the lever by hand with the cable dissconnected and it moves but stops very short of where it used to. ( I was unable to get full throttle thats how I discovered the problem) I think the problem is inside

ty for the update. the throttle pressure piston is a spring loaded rod (spring is located inside the VB) and is activated by the turning of the lever on a hammer that depresses the throttle pressure piston (see pic).

If the piston is confronting resistance it is either through a mechanical failure, a buildup of crud in the piston bore, or something obstructing the piston in its in/out movement.

Sadly, in order to inspect this, you have to drop the pan and the VB and open it up. Here are some pics to help out.

I would try unhooking the cable assy. & rotate the shaft by hand or pliers. It'll usually move a fraction real easy, then you'll feel the spring pressure starting to resist the rotation. Spring pressure is NOT a whole lot. The throtle press. valve assy. pushs in relatively easily with your finger if it's pushing there by the red circle in the last picture.

thanks race dodge, this is a big help! these pics are very helpful! Old bee I tried that 1st lifting and turning pushing down and turning. I hope the piston isnt jammed up, Im hoping it may be the linkage inside

I dropped the pan and the "throttle lever stop scew" had fallen out and jammed up the linkage inside. The bushing fell in the pan I put the bushing back on and the plunger works fine the scew is a little bent. But I'm thinking it stops the linkage from going to far out. The pics race dodge put are most helpful! Thank you!
