Took my boys out for a ride last night when all of a sudden we here a loud bang. I look back and see something rolling on the road behind us. Thinking something fell off my car, we stop to investigate and see damage to my drivers side quarter. Turned around and knocked on the door of the nearest house. Inside is two 14 year old girls babysitting three 10 year old boys. I didn't even say anything when the boys admitted to throwing rocks at cars. I kept my cool, called the police for a accident report. I can't believe my luck. Still haven't heard from the parents. I'm hoping their homeowner insurance will cover this.

wow, how did you know kids threw rocks? did you see them throwing the rocks?
If not that was very intuitive. good call on your part!

A simple knock on the door doesn't hurt.I have an advantage in this department being 6'6" 270#.They tend to see things my way,I had a drunk hit my new dodge truck a few years back.He came running up to my door with mouth in full force like it was my fault.I stepped out,his tail went between his legs and mumbled like a little twit he was.He took a back seat ride to the local big bar hotel the drunk ****.To make things worse he was picking his kids up from school.I was doing the same.

WTF is wrong with kids these days, if I was that 10 yr old boy, and some older mature 13 yr olds were babysitting me, no way would I be throwing rocks at cars, I'd want to play some Post Office foolishness!!! :evil6:

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. If I were a 10 ear old boy being watched by a 14 year old girl I would have gotten in a lot of trouble, but NOT for throwing rocks at cars!!!

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, hunt2elk. That really sucks, if regular people knew the amount of time it takes to make a car look nice, all the sweat and blood.
The parents are to blame, not teaching these little yard burner's the difference between right and wrong.
Glad to hear you kept your cool!

Ridiculous, if I would have ever done that I would have had my parents to deal with! That punishment would have been FAR worse than anything the justice system would have dealt out!!! But then again I was brought up to respect peoples "things" because they had to work hard to get them! You did the right thing although I would have scared the **** out of them, I would have walked to the door holding my hand over my eye!!! "The pain, the pain!"

Yup! Need to stress to them the dangers of throwing things at a moving vehicle and how easy it is to kill someone.

Well, I admit doing some dumb things as a kid; but never threw a rock at cars, snowballs yes, rocks no. Rocks at trains yes, and, long ago when new cars were transported in the open, man, what target practice!

I used to be hell with a.....sling shot and my ammo was either ball bearings or barbed wire staples. :D When I lived up north, snow balls with a small rock inside was a good weapon too. Didn't shoot cars much but big rigs were a good target and didn't aim at the tractor. When a car was targeted, it usually belonged to an ahole neighbor and it got it when parked. The cars of the 50's were pretty tough as far as sheet metal goes and didn't dent like today's cars do so all most got was a paint chip. We shot the smaller bearings (1/4" and smaller) because they were faster than larger ones....

Yeah, I'll admit I was a heathen and that's how I know what kids can get into unlike my wife who thinks all kids are angels and it must be 'older' children (teens) doing all the damage. And I kept a pretty close eye on my kids to make sure they didn't do the crap I did. So far, no one has ever knocked on my door saying any of my kids broke a picture window (yup, I did that) or damaged someone's property in any way. On the picture window, I was shooting as some ahole brat and missed and didn't pay attention to what was in the background.

Funny we are all GUILTY for being KIDS!!!!!!

Yup, but some kids are either meaner or more stooopid er than others or both....and some never quit acting the part when they become adults.

Thats a shame, I hope the parents stand up and take responsibility for what they did, I guess i to have to admit to some stupid things i did when i was a kid, outside of shooting at the neighbor boy on his tractor i have the advantage of using my age as a memory block to remember the others. :) I do hope you get the car back where it was! must of been a heck of a rock and or close by the looks of that dent on the crease on that car, that should be a pretty tuff place to dent it like that, looks like a pellet gun shot.

Tell the parents, after it's fixed the kids have to wash it every time for a year as payment. Maybe they will see how cool it is and you can turn them into Mopar fans. Better hurry they are acting like chevy guys now!

Cant agree with the chevy guy comment. A car guy is a car guy no matter what. Ive seen ricer who were as hard core about thier ride as any mopar maniac out there. Its just bad parenting. My dad would have busted my *** in a heart beat for anything that stupid. Had the same thing happen a few years back. Rock went thru the grill of the wifes explorer (and i hate fords). When it came time to pay i was out of town so i sent my lifting partner with my wife to collect. Hopefully i goes as well for you.

I agree with sadoff...A car guy is a car guy...WE can,t expect them to have the quality of taste that we have!!!!I hate furds too!!!!

If only the Chevy guys would give us the credit we give them......same with the Ferd guys. Most of them hate Mopars.

After not having my phone calls returned I went to talk to the parents today. I was always told to get insurance info from each other when an accident occurs. The wife comes outside when I pull up. She wont get her husband from inside, and is a class A bitch. She tells me it wasn't her kid that threw the rock, but a friend of her sons (and they weren't trying to hit cars but the pine trees on the other side of the road anyway). So because of that it isn't their problem. Seems to me it still happened on her property and her 14 year old daughter was the one in charge of the boys. As long as they are minors, the parents are responsible. And she won't tell me the name of the other kid or where he lives. After listening to this I just turned around and left. I had all I could do to not let my foot spil off the clutch and lay 30 feet of suregrip tracks down her driveway. What is wrong with people nowadays? I bet if the tables were turned, she would already have a lawyer on retainer.
