Largest tires in stock setup? Rim recommendations for 67 RT?

Hello all,

My car just got out of paint and now it's time to get new rims/tires to replace the very worn tires and rough Crager mags. I'm thinking torque thrust rims?

On a stock 67 what's the largest tire that can be put on? I'm looking at getting new 15" rims and want to get the biggest tires front and back (especially since there is a new high power 440 going under the hood). Any suggestions on rims/tires would be appreciated.

275-60-15 on the rear is as big as you can go without having any rubbing issues. That is on a 15x8 rim. I run this on my 68 Charger. Some run bigger, but I've found any bigger and you run into rubbing and **** when you hit decent bumps. I've got 255/70/15's on the rear of my Roadrunner and they rub the outer wheel wheel when you hit a decent bump. Plus with the skirt being lower on a Plymouth quarter, it is a bitch to get the tire on the drum. Search the forum for tire sizes and there is a ton on here about it.

I'm pretty sure a tire that big won't fit. I know 245-60-15 on a 15" x 8" with zero offset will fit. I believe 255-60-15 would be questionable.

I have seen alot of 67 coronets with that combo on the rear and they say it works. I know for a fact it will fit a 68 B body as that's what is on mine. 67 and 68 B bodies have different wheel tubs? My rear wheels are 15x8 with a 4.5" backspace. Fronts are 15x7 with a 4.25" backspace.

67 b body and 68 are much different, 67 is very narrow. That being said 275 will fit on either a 7-8” rim, 4.5 bs on the 7” rim 5-5.5 bs on the 8” rim. OP always measure before you order tires, especially with a 67 b body. Getting the backspacing right is critical when stuffing big tires on a 66-67 b body

275/60/15 will rub with no mods done. The height of the rear is very important. Raise it up will help a lot to fit a larger tire. To me it looks bad that way.

68-70 B-bodies are a totally different wheelwell, not comparable.

All good man. I wasn't too sure being a 68-70 B body guy if the wheel houses are different. Now I know which is good for future builds.

I have a 66 Coronet w/ mopar XHD springs, we had 255/60/15 on torq thrust 8" w/ 4.5 backspace, had some rubbing on the inside of the wheel well only under heavy load, switched to 235/70/15 on torq thrust 7" wheels and now it rubs on the inner quarter because there is less backspace. We will be going back to the 8", we're learning...

My 67 RT has 275/60/15 tires. Does not rub on the passenger side, but does rub on the drivers side wheel well

275/60/15 no mods.. caltracs set up with stock ride height.. I have a good friend with a 67 coronet running same size mine took 5” backspace no rubbing issues at all. Car runs in the mid 11’s and is driven 2000 miles a year on the street
