Can anyone help me rebuild or sell me an NOS metering valve for my 71 charger with disc up front and drums in the rear? I have gone though four different valves from inline tube, classic industries and Fine lines and they all leak worse than my original one.
Thanks,
Steve

could be the end of your lines at the valve have a problem.poss cracks or bad flares.have you checked them?where do they leak?very odd to have that many bad.

All the lines, master cylinder, booster and wheel cylinders are new. None of the lines leak. Fluid pours out of the bottom seal of every valve we install.

Both Inline and Classic admit to having this problem in the past.

Oh yeah, and I just found out Classic gets their valves from Inline tubes.

well that explains that.i build my own brake systems and use adjustable valves to the rear.never had any problems.mancini has a few choices.

that expains that.take a look at mancinis stuff.i set mine up with adjustable to rear and diverter blocks.several choices on there site.

check the link.they have after market and factory stuff.

I just replaced one in my 70 GTX again, I installed a new one last fall and a week ago I felt soft brakes and it was leaking from that bottom valve thing with the rubber gromet, I got a free replacement and am crossing my fingers, for now it's not leaking and all is good.
I bought it through Roseville Moparts and it's an Inline part.
I would like to know if someone else is making them also for future reference.

Finelines told me they make their own. But the one I just got failed just like other ones from Inline. I am looking in to rebuilding the original one. Good luck with the replacement valve. I hope it works for you but I think they have a bad batch from the supplier. I have just received three bad Inline valves in the last two weeks.

Not sure if it would be the same brand valve, but Pirate Jacks would probably have a new one.

Have you ever installed one from pirate jack?

Not yet. It came with the kit I bought for my disc brake conversion going on my Charger project. They told me it was a factory original reproduction.

I contacted Pirated Jack and they told me they have never had a problem with that valve but are very concerned because they believe everybody is sourcing the valve from the same manufacture.

Summit sells them as well...But they could all be from One supplier. Ive got one coming this week for my 66, but it'll be another week before we run fluid thru it.

I’m replying to this thread because the same thing has happened to my car. After taking a long break from the Super Bee, I decided to change the oil today. Looking under the car I found brake fluid on the concrete. More than a few drops, so I placed a small bread pan under it, then attempted to go for a short drive only around the block.

The ONE year old, reproduction 71 B-Body Disc Brake Metering Block has sprung a MASSIVE hemorrhage leak from the valve at the bottom of the metering block.. The pedal went to the floor on all stops. The bread pan had an alarming amount of fluid in it when I pulled back into the garage. Disc brake reservoir was almost empty!

All the fluid leaked past the valve in the bottom of the metering block. I could watch it dripping off the bottom of the valve stem. Line connections to the block above the valve were dry.. Been driving the car every two weeks since last May. Today the valve let loose completely..

I bought this metering valve along with a proportioning valve from Dr. Diff. I’m certain it was made in China, and it’s usable life is over after only one year..

I now have a much worse leak than I did before replacing and/or rebuilding the entire hydraulic braking system a year ago. The master cylinder was leaking before the rebuild, but not even close to the gushing leak the metering valve has now. Car has NO front brakes now.

If this had happened after leaving my neighborhood, and I had been totally unaware of it, when leaving the garage (brakes working properly when getting on a major road), it’s likely I’d have wrecked the car, and either killed myself or someone else. When that Chinese valve goes bad your front brakes are GONE, nobody home!

I have no “original” metering block to rebuild.. Car had the incorrect cast iron all in one block on it, a REAL one, from 72 to 74, that didn’t leak! But it also does NOT connect properly to factory 71 lines.. Now I don’t know what I’m going to do with this car, that, yet again, I CANNOT drive.
