In the garage. Under the hood. Again.
All right,we have some new rolling stock for the S.F. Seriously had considered Americans, like many others, but went back through some old books and magazines and decided on these:

Chrome OE steelies,15X5" and 15X8" with 205/75-15 front and 255/70-15 rear. They're from Rallye America, and I,like MANY others, highly recommend them! Still working on other issues,so for now they sit in the house. Hey,it's my house;if I want to build the 440 in the kitchen,I will...

...with the girlfriend's permission,of course. "No,honey;that's Valvoline,not Maazola".

Those are going to look nice. As for Rallye America, they have done right by me. A few months ago they built a custom set of 15x14 steelies (for my '35 Ply coupe) with centers that will allow me to use my original '35 caps. Man, they look good!

How about some pics when the SF gets its new shoes on?

I agree. Love the look of a steelie! The dinner table is always nice to build carbs on!!

Baby moons for the centers?

Considered, but no. Like the open wheel look, something like what was common around that mid 1960's time frame. Some guy on the hot rod forum suggested "spider" caps;not on a "drag"-look car. Were the car a Savoy,Belvedere or even a standard Fury,I might have considered painted steels,at least on the rear.but this is a top-of-the-line SPORT Fury. It needed some old school "flash",and it seems everyone runs Americans on the old "B's". They look great and are period-correct,but this style,IMO,has the proper look and "shiny chrome" factor in one package.
Hopefully, they'll be on the car soon, and it'll roll out for some pics. Patience,my friends,patience...

Hey Al.................How bout some pics of them on the car.

Nice choice.

can't go wrong with chrome steelies w/wo baby moons

As soon as the car is road ready, they'll go on. I do need to get 'em on and see where my ride height is. I know with the rears I'll have a bit of a "rake" to it(intended),but also know I'll probably have to raise the front slightly before alignment. Here's some "teaser" pics:

There's no clearance issues with the springs or the front of the wheelhouse(it's c-l-o-s-e);it's with the top of the wheelhouse. Them's some big-*** tires! They're 255-70's;I may have to go with 255-60's or 235-70's. The wheels only come with 4-1/4" b.s.;a 4-3/4" b.s. would have moved the tire in just a bit more.

I really don't want to change the style of wheel, and I may have to contact Rallye America(where I got the wheels) and see about "cu$tom" wheels with the required offset. Ouch.:black_eye:
When I get her out of the garage, and get all four wheels and tires mounted,I'll get more pics. For a while, she'll run around on the 14X7 Rally wheels it came with while I deal with other issues.

I agree they look nice !! Ron
