1965 Belvedere

Here are a couple pics of my 65. It's an original 361 4-speed car. It now has a 383. I want to build a 426 for it.

cwmoss, I have the exact same car, originally 361, 4spd and red on red. 383 now too. Was the trim originally painted white or black as it is now? Any interior shots and was your interior originally black or red? I got a little ways to go before mine is that clean.

Let's See Some 65 Plymouths

Greetings SandDiesel;
My first brand new car was a 65 Belvedere II, 383/330, 4-Spd. I wanted Plymouth's "Medium Red Metallic" with a black interior and a white stripe inside the chrome strip. The dealer told me only a black stripe was available with a black interior and the white stripe came on everything else (all other interior colors). I asked if I could "special order" the white stripe. He called both the area dealer rep and Chrysler Central Office and was told no--that the "system" would not allow this over-ride and all black interiors came with a black stripe. If I wanted a white stripe, I had to order a color matching/complimenting interior or order the chrome strips separately and have them dealer installed upon delivery of the vehicle. Good for me, because once I took delivery of the car, I was glad it didn't come with the white. Hope this helps. Bob

Dodger, I like the look of the headrests in your car. Did you have them fitted to the original bench and did you have to mod the internals any to support them? Also are your seats done with cloth inserts or are they all vinyl? All those 65's are clean. Only time and money for me.

ilm65, yeah I'm red on red with white stripe. Going with black interior but not sure about the trim stripe yet.
