Hey Dan, I see you're in Tacoma. I live in Puyallup. I don't think I've ever seen your car. Is the sill trim original?, and did all 66's have that trim? I've thought at times that if I ever painted my car, I'd think about getting rid of the rocker trim that was typical to all 67 Satellites, and install trim like yours at the sill, which is what the 67 'X had.
I wanted a GTX...
I wanted a GTX, had to have a GTX, but couldn't find or afford one , so I bought my 69 Sport Satellite 383HP from the original owner in Sept. 1976. It's my first car. I rode a bicycle to work for a year to save $1000.00 to buy it. I held on to it all these years. Of course, within weeks, I swapped out the wheels & tires, factory intake, exhaust manifolds, 3.23 open end rear, and factory carb, and replaced with the standard performance parts of that time, along with a 489 case sure grip with 4.56 gears. That was my primary transportation, and band equipment vehicle for the next 3 years. Nuts, but that's what we did back then. I still have some of the original parts stashed, but no plan to put them back on. I took it off the road in 1979, had it re-painted in original Y2 Sunfire Yellow, rebuilt motor and trans for some drag racing & car shows. Then it sat for for a number of years after getting married, but other than the new wheels and tires in 2016, and having motor and engine compartment cleaned up & repainted back to original Y2 (foolishly painted engine compartment gloss black imron in '79), the car is exactly as it was in 1979. Not perfect, some small paint chips, but it's part of my life, and I have no plans to let it go, until my time is up. By the way, this is a great forum, with great people, and I have never seen another that is so rich in history, knowledge, enthusiasm, and the willingness to help fellow members. I am not very tech savvy, so hopefully I can get a couple photos along with this, with less difficulty than my previous post...
