Don't know which years 1971-1974 that the 3-speed manual was standard equipment (Road Runners?). I don't remember anyone on the forum sharing one with us all. Would be be almost a unique vehicle I suppose.

Pretty sure the 3 speed was standard in the '73 road runners. My guess would be over the years the 3 speeds were removed in favor of 4 speeds, or automatics. My car (73 road runner) was born a 3 speed in the floor, but had been converted to an auto before I got it.

I had that 3 on the tree charger rallye 73 I think it was the new owner is a member on here now maybe he will post up some pictures of it I don't have them anymore

I've seen a few 318 3 on the floor 73 RRs.

...and a couple 71 3 on the floor RRs.

Not very many Chargers, though.

My 73 came factory with a 3 speed on the floor. like most others it was converted with a 727. My car still has the 3 peddles, I'd like to put a manual back in it. Do yuou guys think the 3 speed could handle 500+HP?

These three speed cars look to have run the same course as the Dodo bird.

I was offered a free 3-on-the-tree '73 Charger back in 1980 but had no place to keep it so I had to pass. I think it may have also been a slant 6, but don't remember for sure.

I believe 3 speeds were standard for sure up thru 1973. In fact standard feature for 72 RR was 400 V-8 and 3 speed on the floor. 3 speeds were actually great. Most were not abused like 4 speeds were.

Interesting.

Pretty sure I've seen Sebrings with slap sticks, not just Pluses.

70 Super Bee 3 on the floor 383. Standard equipment up charge to 4 speed or auto

Being of the age of 69, I remember new cars during that time, and you really could get what you wanted. The dealers would do just about anything to get you to buy.

...and not special ordered.

Got this in the box of 4 speed pieces

#13. . could be. i've noticed that data books and sales brochures (printed prior to production) often state one thing, but you can get something else after production.

Mine was a 3 speed 383 car floor shift. Long gone by the time I took possession. Window sticker and fender tag confirm.

My first mopar was a 71 RR 383 3spd.tor red with 28k on it bought for $1500 in 79,car would burn rubber for blocks in first gear, I put an 18 spline 4spd.in {paid $100} & left the 3spd on the side of the gas station I worked at & the junk man took it,little did know the 383 only 3spd. trans is the HD version of the a230s,they have the larger input shaft bearing like the HEMI/440 a883s & the duel shifter mounting locations,my friend owns the car & put a 727 in,Im collecting up all the specific 3spd parts & am going to trade him for the 18spline.

PS looking for 3spd parts.
