Hi, I have a 1967 440. I need to buy new lifters and some websites say I need to use the earlier style lifter or Hemi lifter. They show two different lifter seat height. I guess this is measured from the top of lifter to where the pushrod seats. I need to know so I can find out what lifters I have in my engine before I buy new ones. it's 0.03 difference between lifter seat heights, will that make a difference if I order the wrong ones? The show lifter seat height 1.91 for pre 1968 440 and Hemi, and 1.88 for 68-80 440. Can I measure the pushrod length to determine which lifters I have?

Thanks

Leigh

i think the real difference is the push rod cup in the tappet. look to see if your pushrods tips are smaller at the tappet vs the rocker. it may have been in '68 that chrysler went to a 5/16" ball on each end vs a 5/16"-1/4". if this is the case just use the later push rods with the new lifters. the factory set-up has a lot of pre-load in it so losing .030" may be a plus.

Thanks for the info, I have the older pushrods. I will change out both and all is good.

Thanks again

Leigh
