Lightweight car batteries

100%..... I've never been a part of an exploding battery but ( knock on wood six times) I take every charging event carefully.
And also the last prostock Dodge guy ARC Racing almost died from battery charger electrocution.
I had a battery explode in my big-block 65 Galaxie. In the gas station! (Still not sure why! Just driving, not charging).
Almost got shot by the cop exiting the station, he thought someone was shooting at him.

Considering the battery placement in my Opel, IF the lithium was safe, I'd surely consider it. Just bought a new battery for it a little while ago, so not a priority. And don't call me Shirley.
(Battery is in an enclosed box bolted to the rear frame rails, from underneath. Battery and box has to be lifted on a floor jack, to be able to put the bolts in.)

The Lithium Titanate sure seems to be as safe as any lead-acid battery.

I ordered this:

It measures the same as the battery I have in this:

But slightly bigger than what I've had in the red car for a few years.

Trying to find CCA equivalents on Lithium batteries is kind of hit and miss.

Even using Amp Hours sometimes you have to calculate from Watt Hours.

I went based on the advice of FBBO member @68 Sport Satellite AKA Dwayne, who followed the advice of Rick Ehrenberg from Mopar Action magazine.
He has the same battery that I bought. I tested it in my car. Even with my battery at a full charge, the Lithium one spun the engine over a LOT faster.

Yeah, even the one in my lawn mower, despite being 20 CCA rated or more lower and considerably smaller...spins faster.

I have been hiding the lightweight racing batteries inside of the repro battery cases when they fail with no issues. Cheaper, they last longer and crank the starter faster.
i also just tried this. The yellow caps battery, I just used one of the cap kits On a generic auto parts store house brand battery. Yes, same battery.
