Got to messin around under my RR to see if I could find a gear ratio. Found the little tag 3:23's. Also while I was down there, decided to spin the wheels and they both rotate the same direction. Would that mean it's a suregrip rearend?

Maybe. Maybe not. Here's how you can tell fo sho. If it's a manual, throw it gear. If it's an auto, chunk it in park. Jack the rear wheels off the ground. Support it safely. With the manual in gear....doesn't matter which one, or the auto in park, grab a tire and see if you can turn it. If you can, it's a standard open rear end. If you cannot it is a sure grip.

Thanks Rusty. I have the car on stands now so i'll throw the driveshaft on and see.

Rusty's method not only tells you it's SG but can also tell you how good it is. A good one will take some grunt to break loose. There is a break away torque spec but I don't recall what it is.

and the sure grips are a hell of a lot harder to move by pushing it around

Got the driveshaft in and tried to turn the tires in park. They didn't budge. Put the trans in gear and had to grunt a little to spin them around. Thanks for all the help guys.
