Ok, here's the deal. I need to know the physical differance between these K memebers; /6 vs. Hemi. (64 330) I am being told that the actual K member is exactly the same, (hard to believe) the differance is the engine mounts (not hard to believe). I contacted Bob Mosher in Monrovia Ca. to do a rebuild/recondition on the K Member and upgrade to a disk break set up, rebush everything new tie rod ends etc. But he/I need a Hemi k member for him to convert. I have a guy in Wisconsin to do the mod on the /6 K mem for the conversion to Hemi but I want to double check the information and make sure it can be done right before I send it to him.

Thanks in advance for the help.
Mike

Hi,
I just finished 2 projects that correlate to your situation.
1. 1970 383 - Superbee to a 70 Hemi.
2. 1963 Polara to a Max Wedge.
I can tell you for sure, I used Schumacher mounts for both applications.
A Hemi car did come with a "skid-plate" on K-member. 440-six-pack cars did too)
Mounts are different for the B/RB & Hemi cars.
Call Schumacher for tech info OR Have Mosher do it for a lot of Money! $$$$
You can do it your self, sand blast poarts, powder coat etc.

I would use the shumacher stuff and do it yourself. Save some money and use that savings for the elephant.

moparstuart, I gotta get up there and see your salvage yard... I assume they are full of old mopars, right? Oh, my advice on this thread? Save $, do it yourself!!!

ok, i took a 318 out and put in a 69 hemi in a 69 coronet. i was told that you could use a v/8 k-frame with a v/8, with a kit. but a 6 k/frame won't do an 8 conversion, i think.

Thanks for the help guys. now i need to decide if I want to do the conversion kit or fab the correct motor mounts for the hemi on the BB k member. Probably go that route. We'll see...

sorry no i have very few old car s just a few i have been able to collect my self . Most of my stuff is late model 95 and newer stuff that sells to the insurance companys .

Ya, I've seen the conversion motor mounts for the Hemi off of the BB/RB perches on the the K member. I've broken enough motor mounts over the years to get a little "goosey" about using adaptors in this area. Interestingly enough, I've gleaned enough info/photos to know what it would take to fab the correct perches on the 63/65 k member. The engine will be here in about 3 months to fit and verify the mod. It would be awesome if there was a print floating around somewhere for the Hemi k Member. Not to say that Schumacher's stuff isn't good, just a quirk of mine I guess...

You have a computer?
Of course you do.

You're right. It won't. perches way different...
