Looking at a 69 Coronet 500, new to Mopar

Just bought my first classic mopar. I've owned 2 modern challengers (currently have a sublime green 15 scat pack), but somewhere along the line fell in love with 68-70 B bodies. Took a year but 2 weeks ago I found a 69 Coronet 500 318 auto (#'s matching) with bucket seats/console, black vinyl top, chrome/black trim bottom. 51k miles. Engine, trans and rear end rebuilt 5k miles ago. But most importantly to me was this sucker was clean. Very little surface rust and the chassis was solid. Saw no signs of patches, etc. It was in Canada, so I had to import, but got it for 15,500 usd. If that helps value the one you're looking at. I got the 500 instead of getting a superbee or rr cuz i plan to mod it to the way i want it anyway and didn't wnt to feel "feel bad" anytime i did anything that hurt the originality (and value) of a real bee. I also love the trim with the chrome and black on the bottom. Hate the paint, so that's first. Going with a Pontiac white that i saw on a gto that seemed perfect. Dropped her off yesterday for paint, body work and putting a scoop on the flat hood. then my guy is putting on tints and custom stripes. Building a 500-600hp 440 stroker that gets 15 for it, disc brakes, chassis strengthening, suspension, new dash, steering wheel, etc. Already has new 500 magnum 15's on all 4 corners so keeping those. In the end I'll likely spend 30k and have the car looking superbeeish, but more modern and FUN! Might even do a super hero theme car... Point is, as much as I'd like an original #'s 69 1/2 six pack car, I'd rather have something i can do whatever i want with without feeling like I'm destroying value with every mod and mile. I want a driver i can scare the hell outta my girl with anytime the mood strikes ;) and bring to shows and truly be a 1 of 1 "fun " car that will make dad's drool and kids go "that's cool!" So, if you really want a real superbee, sell the gto and scour the earth til u find it otherwise find a good starting point and do whatever makes u happy. If that's this 500, then make it work. Here's where I'm starting

Thanks for that good real life info, that's about what I was thinking the Sublime Green 69 is worth (https://buffalo.craigslist.org/cto/d/1969-dodge-coronet-500/6274100614.html), around $16k max. The guy is trying to get $26k for it and I think he's way off, I think he knows he paid too much for it... I still find it weird that he bought the car last fall and never put it on the road and now he's trying to trade it away...

Holy crap! All this time I've stared at that avatar and seen the screen name, but I just got it now from ETD's comment. I feel like a real "Kotex Traveling Container."

Seriously.

Break.
To the OP:
Which is more valuable, a diamond or a ruby?
With that rhetorical question in mind, I would rather have a Bee or Coronet than an " R/T Charger" for purely personal reasons.

Nice! I would recommend painting it 1969 W-1 white if you change the color. your will be glad you did in the future!. but it will look nice either way!

Looks like the car is off Craigslist. You end up buying/ trading for it?

Well my wish list in order of desire:

1) 1968 Charger R/T
2) 1969 Super Bee
3) 1970 Super Bee
4) 1968 Base Charger
5) 1969 Base Coronet
6) 1970 Base Coronet

All of them would have to be project cars, as I am not one to plunk down $50-60k for a car that is already restored, I prefer to restore myself.

Not really into RR's or GTX's or any E-Body tbh.
