Does anyone know of a good mechanic/mopar expert in the Chicago area? I just bought, or is going to buy if it passes the inspection, a '69 Roadrunner with a 440 6-pack. I needI to have the car checked out mechanically and also have a mopar expert verify that it is in fact a Roadrunner. The car is titled as a satellite and I was told, as well as the current owner, this was done when it was brand new to save on insurance purposes at the dealership. I have heard of this being done before. The car originally was a 383 car but now has the 440 6-pack. As long as it is a real Roadrunner I am fine with it.

I am in the military and currently deployed. I am originally from Wisconsin and if the deal goes through a few of my buddies are going to go pick the car up and hold store it for me until I get back where it will be permanently moved to Savannah, GA. This is why I need the help with it. There is nothing I can do right now to inspect the car.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks and I am looking forward to being part of this forum.

Never heard of a runner being titled as a Satellite before. They have a different VIN, and that VIN identifies it as a Satellite, runner, GTX, whatever. Kinda hard to "fool" the insurance company when the VIN doesn't lie.

I work as a hired gun, but I'm not near Chicago. Sorry

The vin is RM23H9GXXXXXX. Where all on the car should this VIN appear? What about the door tag, should anything on that match the VIN? Any other way of being sure the car is really a Roadrunner?

I was referred to Jerry @ Repairs Plus in Villa Pk (630 834 2886) by Joey Chicago (admin for FBBO) for a mechanic in the Chicagoland area...maybe give him a shout and see. I haven't gone to see him yet, but Joey told me to tell Jerry that he referred me to him. :HappyNewYear: BTW RM23 would be a hardtop RR

Yup. RM23 is a road runner VIN. The sticker on the door should match the tag on the dash, fender tag, core support, and trunk rail. Naturally that should all match the VIN on the title
