Looking for usda prime beef (in germany)

I really enjoyed eating schnitzel and bratwurst when I was in Germany but haven't found anything here that's close to what I got over there....but, I didn't enjoy T-bone steaks etc before going over there either but once I had good steaks at home, the other stuff didn't matter so much! :) Would still like to have some good German schitzel and brats like I got over there. Was stationed at Hahn AFB from mid late 71 to early 73....

I'm not that much into schnitzel and bratwurst but from time to time i eat it and yes some are pretty good.

The problem (in this country at least) was/is that there are only a handful of processing companies
that handle the vast majority of beef for the whole nation - and they've been playing with the market,
reputedly out of concerns over the kung flu (their unions often refuse to work due to this supposed
concern).
Another obvious complication this causes is that beef producers can't get their meat to market, being
held hostage by the processing plants....so it goes to waste.

I read an article recently about a group of beef ranchers who decided they had had enough of this and
set about learning how to open their own processing plant - and with guidance from the USDA, they
actually did it! I thought that was pretty damn cool.

Anyways, back to the OP's question:
First thing that came to my mind was Omaha Steaks, who has a huge online business and ships tons
of beef around North America and the US territories.
Unfortunately for the OP, a check of their website found this:
"International Shipping
Due to import/export restrictions, we are unable to ship our products outside the United States, Canada,
Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands."
So much for that idea....
ya well, the REAL problem is the beef and pork packing houses around here, and there is a bunch of them, can't get their employees back to work cause our elected leader seems to think he needs to pay them covid bonuses to be unemployed....**** runs downhill...

The other thing that scares me is who owns those packing houses! China and other foreign companies flying under the Smithfield name and others...

Search Costco online maybe join online, don't know if you can. Maybe buy that way?

I like to eat good steaks. Especially tenderloin.
But unfortunately i live in germany where great beef is getting more expensive and rarer by the day...
Just recently i had a 300g usda choice tenderloin steak for 60$ and i'm not sure if it really was (if so then lower end) choice. So now you know what i mean by expensive.

I know there are exchange stores for us army & airforce here in germany and that you can buy usda prime beef there.
Maybe someone over here knows somebody stationed in germany that could buy these steaks for me? (For a premium of course)

If someone exports this stuff or has a contact i'm also interested.
But i need it shipped to my door. I cant "import" beef myself.

I even thought about selling this stuff if i had a good supply...
As there is nothing really good and affordable it should sell like there's no tomorrow.
Maybe could afford a hemi mopar soon if i did. :D

I already asked a dozen german companys but had absolutely no luck so far.
If you're close to Hamburg, check this out: http://www.mattfeld.de/en/wholesale-meat-imports

I'm about 10 hours away from hamburg but i know them and already contacted them half a year ago.
I asked them if they have usda prime certified beef. They responded they carry "us beef" from Greater Omaha Packers und Creekstone Farms.
I then again asked if they carry usda prime certified beef since "us beef" or "us prime" means absolutely nothing.
I got no response after that. They also only sell to businesses, not to regular persons.
And at this point i do not want to buy a whole container. :D

Ya well....
Processing plants = "packing houses"
Dig?

Have you tried Metro? Last time I was there they had USDA Prime beef..

They also carry beef from Brazil and Argentina - both very tender and delicious!

Bill Gates has 242,000 acres of U.S. farm land, he is the largest single owner in America. That scares the **** out of me.

You can get lucky but chances are they "only" have choice and no tenderloin.
In fact i asked metros in munich, nuernberg and regensburg (which are the closest to me) a couple months ago if i could special order usda prime certified tenderloin and they said its not possible.

As far as i know he likes to eat burgers :D

Costco france responded that they do carry usda prime beef but they do not ship to germany.
I'm also not sure if they carry usda prime tenderloin, just sent them another mail and asked. If so i would might take a trip to france and buy some... :D

my experience with Omaha meats/steaks
IMO they sucked
my dad bought some on an impulse buy
saw them on TV
they allege/claim they are the only aged beef :jackoff:
their chops & hamburger were pretty good
the deserts were good
the steak wasn't anything special
our local beef supplier here Signature Farms USDA Choice
to Safeway, in mass...
IMO even is far better

I live in, just above prime cattle country here...

You an American, living in Germany, or a native Deutschland'er?

Very native german. Both parents german and i'm born and always lived in ingolstadt, germany.
Sometimes i think there must be a link to the us since i like everything (cars, food etc...) so much but not that i know off. :D

My family is German but been in the states as farmers for many many years. I do have a curiosity to visit Germany, mine were tied to ship builders Voss and Blohm. Small world in reality. Some of the family were close to the devil man himself, one was in the room with him when the attempted assignation failed. Crazy stuff.
