Amazing how a thread can turn into a shitshow for such a meh topic I'm actually surprised no one mentioned not running urethane LCA bushings..

Yup.. saw that... and people NEVER go on tangents on these forumsThe OP's opening question and related title:
"I was thinking adding the lower control arm stiffing plates. Thoughts?"

You think it's funny, eh ! Now, you wanna start an argument ? Go ahead, pick a side, I'll do the other !

I put urethane bushings in my rotary radio knobs. Holds the station better, but it squeaks when I change stations.
Bingo! As car enthusiasts, we often make mods without any “engineering analysis” , especially when the mod seems logical, and “analysis” takes 20x the effort of making the mod!Cheap and easy to do. There are no downsides to using the plates.
I agree, and GIGO is still valid.Bingo! As car enthusiasts, we often make mods without any “engineering analysis” , especially when the mod seems logical, and “analysis” takes 20x the effort of making the mod!
Hi everyone I personally gone down the rabbit hole. Larger tie rods, welded braces on lca, larger front sway bars, kyb shocks etc, etc. Borgeson steering box , everything new or rebuilt. Front and back. I did it bc I want a nice cruiser. That can handle turns and roads. I believe there's no right or wrong. Just personal preference & Safety.I will most likely do the stiffening plates when I do the lower control arm bushings and the strut rod bushings. I did the upper bushings and all the ball joints and tie rods in 2023.
Wow!! Thanks for info. Have not installed them yet. Only have for front. Out back coil overs, newer stock springs & rear swaybar. I think now I have Monroe or Gabriel out front.Well, the KYB shocks are a terrible choice for a cruiser. They make the cars ride like a Conestoga wagon.
