Lowering blocks which. Longer shock?

Hey everyone. Working on our 72 coronet. We just did some two inch lowering blocks to get the rake better in our car. However our shocks are now to short as the shock mount has dropped down two inches. So these will not work as if we go over a bump we can over extend the shock and even break them.

Probably going to go to the parts store and hunt for something. Sucks as it has a nice set of koni shocks on the rear now. Current ones at full extension are 23.5. our shock is 21. Anybody have a part number to get before we go through a catalog. I attached a picture of our setup. Do we need to hunt some shocks or is there a mount option that moved the shock back to stock location?

Your axle moved up 2 inches. The shock plate is in the same place it was at before you added the blocks.

Yeah we did not think about that. The perch has not moved at all. However these konis are a couple inches short. So looks it's a parts store run for some shocks.

From what I recall from my feeble memory, they should bottom out at full spring droop. I would measure them at compression and extension first, .... maybe you can save yourself some dough and re-use the Konis.

So looking for 23inch at full droop. These konis are 21 inch at full extension. The bushings also look like they have been used and abused. Stock shocks are showing 22.5 everywhere. So looks like new shocks are in order. Curious why the konis are that much shorter.

Are the Konis listed to fit that car? I've lowered several cars over the years and used the stock/stock replacement shocks.....
 
Let me measure my Bilsteins and I'll let you know how long they are. Nothing you're going to get at a FLAPS is going to work on a road course, absolutely not correct valving for that use. Bilsteins would still be a little off for race use, but far better than anything your FLAPS will have.

Also... how are the 18x10 front wheels working, and what did you end up with for spacers?
 
Ok, just measured my Bilsteins and they're ~18 3/4" extended. So not as long as you want, though another possibility is peruse the Bilstein catalog for a shock with the proper travel and pin/eye configuration and have them revalved. Bilstein (and many other places) can to a revalve.
 
Yeah so this weekend its probably getting some KYB cause were racing this Friday- Sunday at the CMP lemons race. Might hunt the catalog for the next race. We sill need to check pinion angle and get the car to the alignment shop. Figure out some valve covers.

As for the wheels it looks like they fit with about a one inch spacer. Ill have to snag some pics of it at some point. Today was fighting the brakes. Two broken lines and a failed rear hose it looks like it might be bleed out. Should know more in a few days....or Thursday when I pick it up on my trailer.
