If your pressure drops just revving to 2500, you have a delivery problem. That pump is very borderline for what you are running, but I would check the filter first. Also if you are running a cheapy regulator, it may not be helping, but that shouldn't cause a drop.You don't need a return system (won't hurt, but not necessary), but a good pump and regulator will last many years and is a sound investment. Anytime you neck down at the filter or regulator input, you are restricting flow. Low fuel pressure will cause bogging, nosing over and if you do it long enough will give the opportunity to change pistons......
