Yes, with the electric fan and electric water pump running and aluminum radiators
it takes about 5 minutes to go from 140 to 80. then I turn off the accessories.
It is putting in 15 Amps for that period. The block are filled pretty full (sometimes completely)
so not a lot of water in the system.

I forgot to add the odyssey ones say something about being “dual core” so they are both a deep cycle and a starting battery. They also like the system to run at 14.5+ and not sag under that.
I figured that would be good with the auto stop start deal in my daily. I made it five years on the factory battery. Changed in the fall so won’t know for awhile if it makes a difference.
I found out my battery wasn’t healthy enough for the last year to run the auto stop and I didn’t notice the computer turned it off. I didn’t have any slow starting until it was right at the five years of use on a 5.5 year old battery.
The 440 spins like a cable news network with the stock starter.

I had a red top optima in my Opel, and it lasted well. But the rumors that I heard about a decline in quality, and the huge price, discouraged the purchase of another.
Considering the abysmal battery location, I wanted another AGM from Sam's for it, but the size I needed was not available in a AGM. So, ended up with a lead/acid that had the same power and warrantee as their typical AGM.
I sure wish a group 27 would fit.... but there's no f-ing way!

NO....you should use it because of its magical powers.....plus it could cause your MSD/ECU to stop working, leading to multiple burnouts when least expected......

I read most of the info so far.
If the marine battery has enough cranking amps it will work.
The internal plates in some are a bit more durable. This allows them to to have a reduced charged, and not got tits up.
I use both in my van. A regular starting battery to start the 318. This battery will mostly stay around 12.75 volts which is typical for a fully charged battery.
The marine, or deep cycle battery, runs the back of the van, which includes the fridge, which is running all the time.
This battery will often start the day at 12.25 volts, which is a 50% discharge. The alternator, or the solar panels need to get this battery back up to 12.75 volts before the end of the day.
If the draw is too much overnight, the single marine battery gets changed to two six volt batteries and fancy charging systems, and a dedicated starting batteries.
Short version, if the marine battery has enough cranking amps, you are okay with the extra weight, then do it.
There is a book called Living on 12 volts, that has more info than we ever dreamed about. A battery maintainer is the answer for keeping batteries charged while they sit over the winter. I have several for the bikes, vehicles and boat. Batteries cost too much for me to let them get too sad.

Unless you are placing you battery in extended use without the alternator charging, you simply don’t need or want a deep cycle battery.
And, some marine batteries are not deep cycle . Again, depending on the application. My boats do not have deep cycle batteries. Two of three of my son’s boat batteries are deep cycle, one is not.

Some of the videos I’ve seen show the Walmart batteries are made by the same company as Optima.

That only means that they are made by the same company, but not necessarily to the same standards. Walmart can provide their own specifications for what they want built, and the end result may or may not match other brand names. Optima is made by Clarios (formerly Johnson Controls Inc.) who also build for many other companies including AutoZone, Bosch, Target, Champion, Delphi, O'Reilly's, Diehard, Interstate and CostCo to name a few besides Walmart. If you lined up, say, a group 27 battery from each of those, you might find weight differences due to individual brand specs.

Except on alternate Wednesday or Thursday on the 34th of the month, then their magical poweres are enhanced......do not underrate magical poweres.....they can become awesome....and overwhelming.....???....

I can see that it's from experience that you've been warning about the dangers of tire smoke, Bob. 
Use it, you will have a longer starter revolution because there is more battery, if you end up needing it.

I ran either a marine deep cycle or a combo RV battery in my Satellite for over a decade, until I stopped being able to get good deals on them. (Exide or RK Rural King by Exide).
If for some reason your car fails to start, you can crank longer before you get the "clicks of death".
Can also attest to only driving the car on weekends and not over the rainy season and only once or twice not having a charge to start.
Since I went back to a "car" battery, I've frequently had to but the charger on it after a few weeks of not driving.

Is that smoke you noted from doing burnoutsouts or the magical smoke from burning "weed" (tetra hydra cabananol) ??? and inhaling....or as it use to be said: "far out....baby"!!!!!!!.........which smoke do you like???.......I can see that it's from experience that you've been warning about the dangers of tire smoke, Bob.

Funny you should mention that. The picture of the battery I posted first was actually the battery I use in my trailer to power an ac inverter for the lights and stuff. I charged it up and tried to start my car with it after my regular battery wouldn’t take a charge. It checked ok with the tester but wouldn’t crank the engine.
I’m going to check it with the tester again to see what the condition is.
Below is the battery I had in the car. I bought it 3 or 4 years ago off a guy selling them on fb marketplace. I’m sure it was new and I think it was one of the type used for heavy trucks or trailers. It started the car great, but I thought it seemed to be getting weak last year and it didn’t survive the winter.
The label says duel purpose so apparently it’s not the same as a deep cycle marine battery. I paid $75, but I’m not really sure the guy was legit, so not trying to find him again.
