Meep's track day recap...

That six pack is a hard thing to figure out sometimes. My dad ran a 6 pack on his 440 for a lot of years. He had a carb tuning specialist teach him how to tune them, he went with us a few races and they got it dialed in pretty good.

Sounds like you had a good day regardless! :headbang:

OK, here is the second attempt at the photo posting. Note the pin gauge (please ignore the fact that I'm using an old Carter gauge on a Holley) but this shows the air bleed passage that can vary in size. As I said, even the 4 BBL's have it and if plugged you will have some instantaneous secondary action!

Here are some pics from the event. A fridge in the pits!? Now that's cool! Ahh, you knew that was coming.

The green Valiant was a low 11 second car I think and one of our favorites from the day. Running a big block and an aftermarket slick shifted 4 spd with a Long shifter.

Meeps; Like you said when we talked on the phone, damn there's nobody there... Belvedere looks great in the water box...

Yeah, I was pissed! I darn near had the track to myself but car ran like $hit so I parked it. Still, like someone said, a bad day at the track is still a pretty good day overall. Got to see some great cars and talk to some great folks.

Time to revisit this from a scientific perspective. I borrowed a buddy's O2 sensor gizmachillini and went for a drive. I found that on tip in it's pretty fat - about 12:1 - then leans out as I open the throttle. Idle can be dialed in pretty well. My suspicion is the outboard carbs are messing with me and before I turn one screw I will take them out of the equation. Need to establish a base line on the primary carb. Note: The carbs I'm using look like they are lightly used from new and I'm running a Promax metering block on the center carb. The mixture screws on the outboard carbs are factory sealed but now I think it's time to un-seal them and make some screws that will allow access with the carbs installed. I will be posting my findings along with pics from my mobile dyno and track car so stay tuned.

Pro Maxx & QuickFuel

Maybe try Quickfuel too, they have some great stuff for six-packs/6bbls Good luck meeps & keep us posted.... Holley, Quickfuel & Pro-Maxx in mine, some of the items I have below... I say fully adjustable secondaries/outboards is a must...
