I put this set on my 440 yesterday.
First of all, I had a heck of a time getting the two bottom bolts on each cover in. They wanted to get too close to the cover and couldn't get a socket or wrench on them. Has anybody else had trouble.

Also, there's no place for a breather, how's the motor supposed to vent, do I need to remove one of them and drill a hole?

I think you can knock out an Al plug that is in the round polished area (but check) or you can get a breather that goes into the place where the caps go.

You do need to drill them that way you only have the holes you need instead of plugging unwanted ones. Yes the bottom holes are a bit close but I never had trouble when using a 1/4 drive deep well socket, do they take a 7/16" socket? I'm using studs with 7/16" nuts.

I had to put a 1/4" drive deep well over each of the bottom holes and tighten them down most of the way and then put the rest in. Not ideal but after trying the proper method 3 different times.....

I was hoping I didn't need to take the damn things off again.
I have a MP breather, but need to machine a hole? Some of the **** Chrysler did seems rather puzzling.

This is how my 440 was set up with the same valve covers. Was like this when I got it, ran good.

Mine is also same as pics above. Just pull the breather out to add oil.
Used internal hex screws. Worked good

I know with the 452 heads, they drill all the holes at an angle. I guess it's done for the steel valve covers to help with installation.

Installing some old Cal Customs I found these studs by ARP part #200-7603. The stud has a tip to help locate the nut and the nuts are small enough to get a short 1/4" drive socket on. They are made for the aluminum valve covers.

I glued the gasket onto the valve cover useing 3M Super Black trim adhesive then use whatever sealer on the gasket to head.

I tried some studs but these are thick Valvecovers, about the sets above ith breathers. Are they screw in?

The ARP studs are made for the heavy aluminum covers. I'm even useing the thick composite gasket.

I had some light machining to do on these because they already had the blanks knocked out. Found all the parts at Summit. Bought the gasket material at the local parts store. The metal ring on the baffle is a rocker shaft shim.

You have to measure the holes that you have when ordering the grommets and the pcv baffle. I would think there would be a kit available for the Mopar Preformance ones?

I used arp studs with 12 point nuts. They worked great. I can’t remember if they take a 3/8 or 7/16 12 point socket. I can check later today.

Depending on your distributor you may need to clearance the pass side valve cover just a smidge.

I use the 1/4" drive set to tighten those bolts. The 3/8" drive sockets are thicker walled then the 1/4" so the smaller set works better.

Tight, but a 1/4" drive socket works on mine as well, and as already mentioned, I simply replaced the fill cap with a breather cap.

Is it a twist in style breather?
Same with the eight side of your motor, is that a twist in style elbow?

My cap is a twist type, just like the cap you have pictured. Just twist one off and twist the other on. I think I got mine with the Mopar M on it from Summit if I remember correctly.

The PCV side is just a PCV valve plugged into a rubber grommet like Kryslerkid posted in picture 7 & 8 of post #12.

$11 at Summit. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/dcc-4529880

I hope you're using headers. I couldn't install mine with hp manifolds.
Rutt-Roh!
I just got a set of HP manifolds from Tonys
I swear, this damn one step forward 2 steps back **** with mopar R/Bs is getting old.
I'm beginning to think I should have put a crate 360 in the damn thing.
