MSD distributor and Repop rally tic tock tach question

I installed a new MSD ready to run distributor and a NEW rally tach. My body guy has concerns that since I am not using the stock distributor, that the New tach will not work or get fried. We are thinks we need to find the wire from the dash harness that normally goes to the tack and splice in a new wire to the ground of the coil. Has anyone used an MSD all in one with a rally tach on a 69?

You know, I've heard of some MSD issues with tachometers, but I'm running an old dealer installed hood tach with a MSD 6A and it seems to be working fine. I think I'm pulling the tach signal right from the ignition coil & not from tach output of the MSD 6A box, but I'd have to check.

I have a repop tach and am running an MSD RTR. Three years and about 3,000 miles with no issues. I did not have to use an adapter either.
