my 1963 Dodge 440

I'm still "up-in-the-air" on this issue.
The next time I purchase another car, I will be sure to verify what parts are availabel etc.

Again, the 1963 interior for Plymouth is available, not the 1963 Dodge.
Yup, I spent hours and hours researching this issue.

I think I'm going with this:
From Legendary Auto Interiors.....

The Red, Black and Tourquise front seat covers are $545 for the 1964 style.

The carpet kit is: $ 229

Your Tourquoise is available, same price.

Have Just Dashes do your side panels

PS: The guy that does Bob Mosher's engines did my 440/based Max Wedge...

yikes.. I guess I need to update my catalog.. I looked the other day and carpet from classic industries was only $129.00..

About the best paint scheme I have seen so far is this one here..

But rather then trying to get all red interior, I am thinkin maybe leaving the turquoise and doing a turquoise stripe in between the trim where the red is on that car.

I kind of like the 60/40 split back in the '63. I already sold my '64 bench when I did the buckets... would have to find another one

So is the aqua the turquoise? they are out of stock of course tho...

Yup
Aqua IS the Turquoise

They will get it back....

Did you open the you tube video and see Bob Mosher's 63?

He did that wicked nice 65 Belvedere a few years ago and the "kid" stole it, hit the big Oak tree and tried to kill himself...
Mosher's cars are the best, period...

ya, I watched the video.. very nice car

does anyone sell seatbelts?? I have some black ones and tan ones that are in "usable" shape .. of course 63 was before seat belts and Washington state law states that only '64 and newer require them, but with 2 kids, I was politely told by the wife I would be in it alone unless I put seatbelts in it.. which is understandable..

I subscribe to MCG and there is a business that always advertises OEM style seat belts...maybe someone here knows the company.
(Mopar Collectors Guide)

ya I sent them an e-mail. They have the material, but would have to find someone local to make it..

I went to a place in spokane and they quoted me $350 to redo a solo seat for my motorcycle..... I got a new seat for $100

That seems high- i always get in touch with the boat repair shops and find one of their interior guys who can do it on the side

I have been down that road....
And basically, it depends on how much a person wants to pay.

For instance, it is not just recovering the seats...
(As you guys know)
It's also building up new foam OR purchasing the foam for the seat along with padding/new burlap etc.
If "one" looks at the intricate stitching the Factory provided on the original covers, it's quite time consuming andvery "Labor intensive"

I just had my golf cart seat re-upholstered, with "marine" vinyl.
Custom job and it cost me $500

Finally had a couple of decent days of good weather.... rear end is in! I don't like the way it sits in the back.. I am sure the shocks are toast, but I think I am going to try and get the springs re-arched or maybe add a leaf or two. I know where there is a '65 coronet being parted out I can get the springs from..

I know its been awhile since I got on here.. over 2 months.. but it has been kind of hectic. Had to move closer to work, and get a house big enough for the mother in law to move into... so now I am living 20 miles from where I can work on the car ....

Update though.. I did get my oil pump and new tube and pickup screen ordered.... I got my hands on a set of old style torque thrust 5 spoke wheels with new bfg's for it, also found a new shifter for it as I won't be using my pistol grip in it....

I will be spending my next couple weekends assembling the motor, cleaning up the tranny and then when work slows down, I will be putting the car together so I can drive it for Sept... Oct.. and then hopefully get it painted after that. I have a bunch of overtime coming and told the wife with that much extra coming in, I want to get it going or I know I won't

Things I still need to purchase are a carpet kit, but I got a sample and found what I am getting, just need to purchase.. and I need to get my hands on a scoop for the hood.. its just to big and flat and everytime I walk past the car, it's just begging for a scoop..

I can try and get some pics.. but I have more been collecting parts.. I also scored a 3 core radiator from a 66 polara my dad picked up and that he was parting out.. we hauled it home and popped the trunk.. first thing he said was "ooo.. I can sell that pretty quick at the swap meet.." my reply was... "like h*ll" and it is now in my trunk..

so here are some of my recent swap meet scores..

shifter and mechanism

I even planned on painting mine white!

20140715_1724191_zps7fbd01e1.jpg

and my new trunk box.. I know its not a roadrunner, but I'm gonna straighten it out... and just clear coat it.. leave all the scratches and everything in it..

don't mind the dirt... its sitting outside right now until I get the motor assembled...

Well hello again guys.... been awhile, but between moving closer to work, working like crazy, and finally getting my promotion.. work as begun on the car again...

so here is a quick update.. Engine is ready to go in.. YAY!

Some specs..

its an early 360 Standard stroke, .040 over with Sealed Power pistons.
Crank mains and rods are .010
standard rods
340 X-Heads that have some mild port work, 3 angle valve job, hardened seats, and were milled .010
273 adjustable rockers with custom 3/8" thick pushrods
Mopar Purple Cam shaft #P4452761 (268/272 adv. duration 220/224 duration @ .050 108 centerline 450/455 lift)
273 solid lifters to make everything work together
In front is a Cloyes double roller timing chaing with a Mopar #P5007709 tensioner.
underneath is a stock pan with a Mopar #P4529790 oil windage tray
Up top is an Edelbrocker performer RPM intake that will have a Holley 650 dual feed/dual pump carb fed by a PN 12-360-11 Holley mechanical fuel pump
and it will all breath through an old set of super comp long tube headers..

I know I am gonna get some flack from some people about cam/header/head choice and tell me what they would have done.... BUT I did a crap load of research, talked to a A LOT of people and this is my creation of everything I came up with that I think will work best for me

I also found some really cool 15" beauty rings when I was in Vegas at the MATS, had a set of 15x7 stealies I sand blasted and painted to make use of the dodge dog dish caps I have..

I think they will look pretty cool when the car is painted white..

And for fathers day, I either get my front fender patch panels, or my max wedge scoop.. either one will be great!

love what you did with the rims there.
what did the trim rings come off of?
they remind me of like ford granada trim rings i think...?

and hey,nice Bird too.

I never full decided what I wanted to do with rims.. and when I was in Vegas some guy at the MATS in the swap meet section had the old red ring dodge dog dish cap, and next to it was the pile of those 15" outer rings I picked up a dog dish, set it inside of the trim rings and went.. hhmm.. looks pretty good.

So I bought em. Only thing I have come to find that looks close are some ford f150/bronco style rallye rims from the mid 80's

and its not a true bird... its my dad sport satellite that has a fiberglass re-pop wing on it..we left the grille and front bumper and built a custom front spoiler.. but boy does it get some attention when driving in town....

Didn't realize it had been so long. car has been sitting in the shop for awhile and the wife decided to buy a house that needed a ton of work. but finally got back at it.

stripped out the interior, seats, headliner, carpet and all the mice nest.. steering column, heater core etc. Got all the engine bay stripped down so I can clean it up. should be able to finally focus on it a lot this winter.
