My 1967 Belvedere II 383 automatic project

Good day everyone.

For those of you who remember me, about 3 months ago, I acquired this car with great excitement. After getting it home, I quickly become overwhelmed with the amount of rust on the car. I went through a time where I considered selling it, but I just couldnt bring myself to do it. Even as I look upon the rust and minor dents, I can't help but see the potential beauty and worthwhile hiding behind it.

SO, that having been said, I have decided to tackle the mountain of work ahead of me, one proverbial shovel-full at a time. After some more disassembly of the car, I'll be tackling the driver-side quarter panel.

To anyone who has replaced rusty quarters on a 66-67, please feel free to message me with tips and suggestions as this will be my first time to do something like this. I have an autobody guy who will help me, but I'll be doing alot by trial and error.

Thank you all for your time, and I welcome your thoughts. I will update with pics as I proceed with the quarter replacement sometime around new years.

Looks as good or better than my rusty '67 Coronet You can do it, just take your time and research all you can.

I replaced both quarters on my gtx...At first I was kind of overwhelmed...Got a buddy that has been workin in the auto body business for 25 plus years give me a hand...First we cut out all the rusted sheetmetal...Then we used the new panel as a template...We laid it over the cars quarter ,used vise grips to clamp it in place...Once we were satisfied with the fit we cut both panels with a die grinder ..We used the thinnest blade we could find..After we cut through both panels we Tach welded the new panel in place...of course we had to skip around to keep the new panel from warping...After the first panel...The second one was easy...I was able to do it myself...Have you found replacement panels already??I did mine 3 yeras ago...Hopefully they are more avaiable...How are your wheel wells...Mine were pretty rusty...Bought a set off of ebay...They claimed to fit 67 to 70...NOT!!!66 and 67 are different...I just patched mine up the best I could....

You can do it just don't get flustered with it. I did all the work on my 70 RoadRunner. It will take a while but you'll get it done. Where are you located at? I'm right down on the river at Durant. Good Luck Ronnie

Can you recommend any places to purchase the panels for my car? I've seen several, so I'm curious of opinions!

I got the Front end partially dismantled today, and pulled off all the accessories to the engine. Also I have all the seats and carpet out too. Slowly getting this car apart! I'm making financial plans to get the bodywork accomplished in the next 6 months. *fingers crossed*

Can anyone recommend any specific order to dismantling a car? I figured I'd start up front and work my way back.

Dismantling the front...

This was my first attempt on degreasing the engine.

I got alot of it off, and can see that the engine used to be blue! Still need to do it again. I also powerwashed the entire engine compartment.

She's slowly coming apart!

Sometimes I have to force myself to spend at least one hour in the garage.
Even if I only get one small thing done, it all adds up.
Two days ago, I removed my master cyl studs from the old single m/c and painted them with Por 15 metal mask.- 1 hr.
last night I pulled them through the new style m/c adaptor and contemplated my fuel line rerouting- 1 hr.
Today I bought a fuel filter and the nuts for those studs.
Plan on installing the filter and adaptor tonight- maybe an hour, maybe more because it's Friday

That's the RIGHT way (but also works on the left side of the car)!

Show us the damage.
There are a couple repair panels out there, and at least one sucks (it's flat).
You might be able to use a patch from a 4 door.

I'm doing the rust repair on my 67 Coronet. Its a daunting task to start but once you get going it starts getting easier. I have use a few panels for the floor from Sherman (rockauto.com) and they were good. I also used a torsion bar x-member from them and it went in pretty good.

I have to repair my rear spring perches and trunk next, I pulled the sheetmetal I needed from a 4 door. PM me if you need some patch material as I parted that 4 door, some of the sheet metal can be used as patches and I have lots you could use from my drivers side lower quarter.
