My 21 year old son disagrees with me on black wheels.

I'm a fan of the black or charcoal wheels....with a few stipulations. Black or dark silver cars only, and the wheels have accents like machined lips and polished/chrome center caps.
IMO, there's nothing like the black or charcoal rims that captures a sinister look quite as much....Chrome seems more "Classic" to me, but love it on a lot of other makes/models/colors

I am also a fan of black wheels, chrome has it's place as well and this is certainly a matter of taste, but I think performance cars just look more butch with a black or charcoal colored rim and blackwall tire, kind of like a flat top buzz cut versus a mullet.

We used the black wheels because we were too poor to afford mags.

That's what I told myself too until I got a set of custom 15x10 cop wheels from Stockton. ha ha ha
The price of those 2 wheels would have gone a long ways on a set of T-Thrusts.
I'm a fan of steel wheels.

I love the black wheels and chrome lug nuts and have been running them before it was recent cool :)

I hate black wheels and always have. To me they look like old street wheels that the hub caps fell off of.

I feel the same as you I don't care for black wheels either. I have seen many fads over the last 40 years and black wheels is just another one. Back in the 50's it was real popular to paint your wheels red. Kind of like the flat colors I see on some new cars or pillows in the rear window (which I have never got the point). I don't like low profile tires on old cars either but to each his own.

I am sure my 16 yr old loves black wheels.

The debate on red wheels still goes on with the older guys. Thought you guys may find it interesting.

hmmph! LOL

Imo Prop hit the nail on the head, "if done correctly" they really add to the mean, sinister, or all-business look of a car. And if anyone says black wheels are just a fad, I'm sorry but sooner or later someone is going to want something other than chrome Cragar S/S's.. lol (not against them, just saying.) And honestly I don't see anything poor or lazy about Pure Vision's "Hammer"

I also really like the black steelies, especially on black cars.

Basically everyone's got their own tastes and opinions, better off to just leave it at that.

Oww! But I changed to polished.

I deeply dislike black wheels. However, I don't mind the black chrome or the hyper black on some of the newer vehicles.

That's a great example. I'm guessing those are high-dollar fancy wheels, but I'd never know CUZ I CAN'T SEE THE MFRS.

With cars like Angrier, that's kind of the point. More of an "all go, no show" look. And I just couldn't really picture Angrier looking as "angry" with chrome wheels.

Again, people have different tastes and if it doesn't suit yours, that's fine. Just a different style

"'All go, no show' look." EXACTLY. Please tell me you see the contradiction.

It's a lame fad. 'Murdered out' began due to underground racing as a way to elude police at night. It has a function. On a car like that, it detracts from the canvas that has unlimited possibilities. Unimaginative...simple minded. Good for the masses, I guess.

If it were really about 'no show', and really 'go', build a supercharged Z06 for the same or less coin and run circles around that (relatively speaking) turd.

Just me...

Yes I get the "contradiction" but you're missing the point: yes it's a look and a concept that was used for that particular build. It's a different style that doesn't care about being flashy, and one you apparently can't comprehend. I'm not trying to convince you into liking it, but I'll just say I disagree with your point of view that it's a "unimaginitive fad." You have your opinion and others have their own, and that's fine. No reason to bash everyone else for liking something you don't.

Huh? That's not 'bashing', I wasnt even cursing!

Sorry you don't understand, maybe someday.

Cheers
