I'm curious about several things because I'm going a very similar route with the build of my 64 Polara convertible...
- Are you're running power or manual brakes in your car? If power, do you believe you'll get the proper vacuum for the brake booster out of that intake?
- Is your oil pan upgrade going to be the newly repopped Max Wedge oil pan? I'm considering buying one for my build because it solves any clearance issues with the K member and/or steering linkage and that oil pan just adds the correct bottom end Max Wedge appearance to your MW top end.
Thanks![/QUOTE]
Steve, I'm just keeping the manual brakes, although I have upgraded to a dual bowl M/C. I'm also using the Stock style exhaust manifolds, so I don't think they'd fit with the booster. I will need to draw vacuum for my heater controls, and the X-ram has the port for a fitting.
As for the oil pan, we did install a New re-pop MW pan, and ran the engine through break-in, and the first few dyno pulls. After seeing the numbers, and considering the cost involved in the build, we decided to go back to my original plan, and use a Milodon that I modified, before the MW re-pops were out, as it has a larger capacity by 1-1/2 qts. I didn't want to take a chance on an oil issue if this car sees more track time than I had planned. The original looked very correct, and would probably be fine for street driving, and occasional track times, but after 5yrs waiting for this to come about, I'm taking no chances. The re-pop took some work to fit as the windage tray needed modding, along with building the oil pick up to fit this pan, as no one is offering a plug & play model right now. I may be putting it up for sale in the future, as a set, pan, windage tray, and the 1/2" pick-up tube. It would be great for a strict MW build...
