My charger restoration dream car

Take the stock air cleaner assembly off and rig up something to measure distance from hood to carb airhorn flange with hood shut and seewhat Summit offers i a drop base + shorter air cleaner.

Is the stock air cleaner a 13"? I remember someone mentioning that and said they used a Ford 13" drop base to keep the stock upper cleaner assembly. Hopefully someone in the know will chime in.

That would be great if I could retain the stock look. I have been looking up some drop base cleaners and not all of them tell me the height above the carb. When I get some time back on the car I will try to see how much clearance I do have.

I removed the fuse box tab under my dash and drilled a hole and mounted my fuses face down. Now it will be like Tim said and I can lay on my back to change the fuses but they will still be fairly easily accessible as far as fuse boxes go. It seems to fit as if the glove box was made for them to mount in this spot.

After pounding, bending, welding, and painting I think I have the rear seat springs in pretty good condition.

I have been kind of scattered in my working on my charger. I will work on one part until I come to a stop with a question or missing parts then I will skip to working on other parts while I figure out what to do. I have many partially finished parts.
This week I have been working on getting ready to install my door panels. I could not find the seal chord for the plastic barrier with the string in-bedded unless I bought a complete installation kit. At Home Depot I found this weatherstrip chord. 90' for $4.95. I know that it isn't OEM but it is quite tacky and seems to be doing the job. The door panels will help keep things in place once they are installed.

Coming along great!

I just put in my moisture barrier sheets in 2 weeks ago that I got from PCG. The cord you got is what exactly came with my kit. On the front doors, you do not need the cord at the bottom as the sheet is supposed to be tucked into the small slit/opening. The water will drip into the inner door and then exit the bottom weep hole. See post #56.

Thank you, I will definitely fix that. I had actually thought in my mind "what will keep the water from coming inside?" My doors didn't have many parts when I got them and I didn't see how they went on.

Your quite welcome! Here are scans from my 68 FSM as well the instruction sheet from PCG.

I set my dash in my car. This is the first time I have seen my car with a dash. When I got my car (over 10 years ago) it was missing many parts, including the dash. Now I need to try to figure how everything plugs in and fits.
A couple pointers that I'm sure most all of you know:
This is not a one person job. I had my son and son in law help me, Thanks guys.
I removed the steering wheel thinking that I could fit it in over the steering column. Nope, The steering column needed to be dropped.

Beautiful!!! Are those new lower dash pads?
I had just dashes recover the old original pads. When I called them they assured me that they would reshape and smooth them before recovering them because the pads were warped and distorted. When I got them back I found that they did not reshape them much. My A/C vents will not move because the pad overlaps the vents. I talked to Just Dashes about it and they told me that they did their job and if I wanted them redone then I would have to pay for it. I have not had them fixed but I was not happy with the finish. If you have them redone I suggest that you shave and reshape before sending them off.

That's very disappointing. Thanks for the heads up.

Yes, that is disappointing - I thought they were the top of the heap. There are some reproduction version(s) out there, wonder if they are any good. I need the piece you showed in your photo, non ac.

cheers

Dash looks awesome! Love how the yellow makes it pop! Sorry to hear about the way you were treated.

I thought they looked very good too until you pointed that out. hard to get things done right in todays world. still looks awesome with that yellow!
