you been busy ,looking very good :headbang:

That looks great, are those Sherman pieces your using? Did you replace the lower part with a new piece? My lower cowl is worse than the upper(where the wiper bolts to). I'm going to have to do the same thing. good job. John

Hi John,i had to replace the bottom and top.the bottom came from,Rock Auto, they seem to be the best deal, and the top came from Krammer Automotive Specalist, they seem to be the only company with the tops,The part that is painted black in the pic is the bottom.Hope this helps,if you need more info please let me know

Yeah, that looks really good, i hope mine comes out that good. did you take the windshield out then the dash?

Yes i took out the windshield ,then the dash,i needed a new windshield anyways,Its much easier to work on with the dash out,to be honest with you ,its easier to fix the bottom with the top part of the cowl cut off.i guess it depends how bad the bottom is and how much metal you will have to weld on.

Boy does that repair look familiar. I had to do exactly the same repair. My finished result.
Doug

I need to do the same thing but on both sides. I found the LH pieces on Rock Auto as you suggested, much cheaper than Sherman for some reason. Did you find the RH lower portion anywhere?

I didnt need to do any work on the right side, but i dont think anyone makes parts for the right side,i could be wrong

I also have a little rust on the rh lower, guess i'll just make a patch. when i bought this car i didn't know to look there for rust, but it spent most of its life in south GA. so it surprise's me that its got rust there and the floor pans. but i guess thats just part of it, i'm 47 year's old too and i'm a little rusty. lol John

I didnt know about the rust there either ,but i soon found out,My car is from South Carolina.Looks like this has been a problem for years in many cars ,if the drain plugs up the water will sit in the cowl and rust.My car wasnt to bad, some guys have to replace the fire wall ,if they were in the snow and salt areas.Yes im 62 so i know about the rust you are talking about .LOL.Good luck John with your project ,and if you need any advice ,contact me i will do my best to help you,Its not that hard to fix it ,and deffinatley worth it.
