My Freshly restored 68 GTX

It sounds like the guy put in the least amount of effort before he sold it to you. He probably thought he would sell it to someone that didn't know any better. Glad to see to doing it right.

I don't understand what happened with the interior!:eusa_eh:
The seat covers and carpet are new but have some issues. The carpet was so badly installed that the heel pad is not straight with the pedals. The carpet on the passenger side is wrinkled and I can't pull it enough to get the wrinkles out, even with cutting it.
I can get new pre formed carper for $140.00, so I decided to strip out the seats and carpet and start over this will also give me a good chance to see the floor pans.

You can see in the picture below how the carpet was installed improperly.

Look what I found behind the rear seat! All the rear seat belts!
The front seat belts were in a box of parts I got from the seller.

The floor pans look great! These pictures are after I cleaned and painted the floor pans. It didn't look like the floor had ever been cleaned before they put in the carpet.

I think you've handled this well and maybe you actually 'lucked out' a little considering the thing looks pretty darn solid? Maybe not if you feel that you overpaid, but this thing is clearly in much better hands now and it looks like something you can proudly call your own! I think you're doing a great job and thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the reply, I agree I have good foundation to work with, I have not found any rust. The car is very solid so it makes working through the issues worth wild.

I kept noticing debris under my seat, I would vacuum and the debris would return. It didn't take long to figure out he had not used new seat cushions when he recovered the seats. The covers were not installed all that great so I new I was going to be working on them but I was surprised with what he did. We took the new seat covers off to find believe it or not, he had covered over the old seat covers.

Here is the under side of the driver seat.

Wow i've installed seat covers and they are hard enough to get on just over the foam.Looks to me like some new seat foam is needed also.

Yes they were completely shot, I had to buy new front seat pads. The rear seat back is in good shape it doesn't need anything the rear seat bottom needed to be re-stretched but the pad is in good shape.

Good to see you taking the time and doing it right, Floors looks good, nice and solid. Its a shame it has to be redone but, You will have a great car when its finished, and you'll know its right!

Nice car. Glad to see you are fixing all the Previously Restored issues. Sellers like that just piss me off!!!

Just noticed the RR doors panels.Keeping them in ?
Its on my list to replace, $310.00 for GTX panels and a 4 week lead time.
They are new but i'm guessing he found them cheaper then the GTX panels. If anyone is interested in them I will move it up on my list of things to do.

Yep and then to find the elsuive chrome 68 only moldings for the GTX panels. They come without from Legendary as your supposed to reuse your old ones.I just got lucky and found some.

I didn't think of calling Legendary, I've only been watching Ebay for the door panels. I called Legendary today and they had them in stock with a 20% off sale, so I ordered the door panels. Thanks for the lead.

I have new RR door panels for sale if anyone is interested.

The interior is complete and back together, I reused the new seat covers that came with the car. I added new seat cushions in the front and left the rear seat as they came.
I went ahead and ordered the correct door panels. The RR door panels were new, so I can sell them and not be out a ton of money. I had to order a wiring harness for the console, when I installed it all the lights worked fine.

The trunk pan and both quarters are in really good shape. It was easy to inspect them considering this is how it came (Empty)
