My new to me 64 Polara

I'm going to throw an alternator on the old girl this morning. The one on the car get's real noisy at times. It could be a bearing or brushes hanging up but it squeals pretty loud though. It seems to be charging ok. I replaced the alternator on my 66 Dart years ago just to make it look pretty and I kept the old one. I took it out of the box and spun it. It was noisy too. :BangHead:

Has that been updated or still using the mechanical regulator?

Still mechanical.
Mine too, it works fine.. the first time i started my car the original one started smoking... i panicked and bought a NOS off ebay (like $32) smoked also.... was just crap burning off the big resistor on the back.. Upside is i have a spare in the trunk now :)

May be tomorrow. I need to work outside the garage and I would rather not work in the rain.

Is there any difference, between cars with or without AC, on where the heater hoses come out of the firewall? I ask because on my 64, originally an AC car, the hoses come out low on passenger side.
I bought the chassis manual and it shows that they are upper drivers side.
Don't mean to side track your post Mike. Let me know if I should start a different thread

Yes, there is a difference of heater hose routing between A/C and non-A/C cars. Normal heater-only is on drivers side, per post # 352. A/C cars had it on passenger side. The triangle-shaped embossment on the centre of the firewall is cut out for refrigerant lines on A/C cars.

Mike. Yes and a o ring on the valve end. You can change the valve by it self and not remove any other part of the heater. And makes it easier to line only one pipe if you are installing the heater box.

May be that's what started leaking on mine.
