My new to me 64 Polara

I need a trunk latch cover in nice shape... can I have yours?!! LOL

Gorgeous car Mike, happy for ya...
LOL. It is a nice piece. Nice for a driver. Is there any color on them, like a black center or just all chrome? Dang, it's late. Past my bedtime.

Mine is beat up and all chrome. I have seen a black center on a few, but unsure if that's correct or not! As for bedtime.. you don't have to go to work tomorrow.. no issue! LOL

Yes it should have the black center. They were made somewhere, I've seen them.

  But I am old and ugly. I need my beauty sleep.

Thanks, I will have to study up and see how they are trimmed. Out comes the model car paint. LOL I need to touch up some screw heads on the headlight trim anyway.

I might stick my head under the dash today and see what I need to do to pull the blower motor and cage out. Every time I turn on the fan I need to rake the leaves off the passenger floor.

Instead of pulling the motor, I might just turn it on high and stick the vacuum hose into the heater outlet. That worked pretty well with cleaning out the cowl. Compressed air in the cowl grates and the vacuum in the clean out hole.

Here is a supposedly NOS cover.

On my 66 the blower motor is accessed from the engine compartment. I pulled my blower motor out and used a vacuum to clean the heater box through that hole, so I didn't have to open the heater box. I did find this in the blower fan though.

That will throw her off balance for sure.

I was thinking on messing with the car this morning but I think I will wait till it warms up a bit. 33° is a bit chilly bare handed trying to fumble with small screws and such. No heated garage here. :mob: :mob:

Damn, I unhooked the flex tube from the blower motor today to blow the leaves out. I tore the end of the flex tube (60 years old) so I cut off the bad end and clamped it down with some tie straps. A big hose clamp would work better but 8" I didn't have. I blew through the fan with some compressed air and a vacuum cleaner on the other end. I went for a highway drive and I now have a heater core leak onto the drivers floor area. Oh, I also pretty much destroyed the glove box liner. Today was not my day. LOL The good thing is that the o' Poly just hummed down the interstate at 65. A little vibration. I need to get the tires balanced and the front end checked and aligned. It was bouncing over bumps in the road a bit wonky (not straight up and down) but it seemed better coming home.

Oh the joys of old cars. LOL
