yeah... it's weird how you can fall out of love with a car.. or just have it too long.. my 71 challenger i had for like 8 years... i just bout gave it away in the end.. just meh.. i'm done. really wish i had kept that one.. and most of the othersI know, the 66 has been a great car. It has never left me stranded. It is fun to drive and has made it to many out of state car shows since I have owned it. I will hate to see it go bit it's time. The 64 will be a nice replacement. It's something I have wanted for years. It might be the last Mopar I own.
Should have kept them all but I only have room (and funds for 2) In fact I have found with 2 I don't drive either one enough to justify owning them. If I get this 64 in a comfortable condition, I may sell the Swinger as well. A real nice car and it shows well and is admired by many but I don't have any attachment to it.yeah... it's weird how you can fall out of love with a car.. or just have it too long.. my 71 challenger i had for like 8 years... i just bout gave it away in the end.. just meh.. i'm done. really wish i had kept that one.. and most of the others![]()
Well, I got her running. A little wiring clean up and a 4 pin ECU instead of a 5. I printed out 4 different wiring diagrams and only 1 made sense for an old system. Now I will try my hand at the dash pad. (If I have enough patience)
I need to mess with the timing and adjust the carb a bit. Just base settings. I had the distributor out. I set it at 10° before to get it running.that thing sounds great
And may be I'll adjust the valves. I don't mind a little clatter though. It gives it character. Like my 273. It's a little noisy cold and quiets down when it warms up. Perfect.that thing sounds great
It's a Holley. I don't know where it came from for sure. It seems to work well.Hey Mike, what carburetor is that? Looks nothing like any that I’ve seen on any 318 that I ever had. Mighty fine looking Polara, early Bs are my favorites.
Thinking back to my first everyday 64 2dr poly, it had a newer carter carb I went through and it was great . Unbelievable mileage. Then my daughters D100 318, put a good 84 D150 holley on. Runs great as well. It's a Holley. I don't know where it came from for sure. It seems to work well.
No valve adjustment yet. I may have to check them sometime. It doesn't rattle too bad and quiet's down a bit when warmed up. No engine miss so they must be close. I need to video the taol pipe sound when warm. It runs pretty smooth.Thinking back to my first everyday 64 2dr poly, it had a newer carter carb I went through and it was great . Unbelievable mileage. Did you adjust the valves? You can do it running by sound lol
If it's good it's good! But there's only a couple bolts holding the cover on lol. And they're barrel locks. No valve adjustment yet. I may have to check them sometime. I was messing with the wiring and ignition to fix starting issues. I replaced the distributor and set the initial at 10° and messed with the idle mixture. I'll throw a vacuum gauge on it and adjust from there. It's interesting, their design sounds different than a LA at idle.If it's good it's good! I think the base rpm was 475-500 . They were smoothe
Yes they're a more solid large heavy cast version. They have a ton of vacuum if running well. A sturdier version of the LAI was messing with the wiring and ignition to fix starting issues.
