Lately there have been a number of POS dumped in the for sale section by new members who joined simply to try and sell their heap to a b-body fan. I take offence to this. I would like to see a person be a member and contribute to the site and the rest of the members before trying to unload their crap. This isn't a dumping ground or a place to make a quick buck flipping ****-boxes. I see stuff posted that is way over priced and mis-represented and it makes me angry thinking that someone views this site as a junk yard profit center.
I especially don't like not being able to comment on it either.....LOL
But i think there should be some criteria met before selling on here.

Some of the other sites i am on you need at least 20 posts before you could post a for sale ad.

The guy with the Charger has no clue about Mopars.....or what something like that is worth.

I recently got an infraction for a comment on a for sale ad. Although I will not do it again, I was dead right about what I said.

That Charger above with all the moss on it looks like somethin outta a B horror movie.

i am on board with "wannadrag", i personally have joined sites like this w/ my last 3 purchases (diff't makes) to find my cars in their "for sale" forums before going to CL, Ebay, etc.

aaahhhahahahah. no title, sitting in a swamp and the price is 2500? LOL. Is that a giant hole where the fuel cap would go? Sorry dude, you let it sit too long. your beat. Its worth what you would get to scrap it, and for that little bit it isnt worth trying to get out of there.

Yea I agree with the minimal post thing... This is our community not a dumping ground

That would be an awesome movie. With zombies all the rage these days, its time for some zombie cars. Or a remake of maximum overdrive. Or the sequel to christine or something.

There was a rr with a hemi in it on here for sale not that long ago. Looked like a real nice car and the price was like 23000. That was good stuff. This kind of crap? Dreamers!

I especially like how the gauges are rusted out on the inside of the 68...LOL

I have a different outlook on this. The reality of it all is that we drive cars that you can't just go to a dealership and buy, which means we have to rely on non-traditional methods to find cars and parts. We have to use ebay, Craigslist, Auto Trader, Hemmings, want ads, and For Sale forums. In my view, the more access that can be offered to people wanting to sell cars and parts, the better it is for all of us. There's nothing I hate more than really needing a part and not finding one, only to learn later when I'm talking to some guy on the street that his brother had that part I wanted and tossed it out because he didn't think it was worth selling. My feeling is the more easy and free selling avenues there are, the more likely people will use them, which improves our access to a dwindling number of cars and parts.

Yes, there are the car flippers, the folks who inherited a car, and the plain ignorant who see an opportunity to market their car or parts to interested buyers; and yes these people often base their prices on incorrect or rumored values, but the folks on this forum aren't fresh off the farm truck. We know when something is priced in the ball park or way out over the hedges, so I don't see a lot more people being humored by some of these ads than ripped off. :)

Nice take on it and very eloquently put. :)

I want to be able to comment though on the garbage from the flippers....hahahaha
I think that's our god given right as actual mopar enthusiasts to be able to let someone know when they are out of line in our "space".
I can see where it isnt a good idea to let us do that as it could get out of hand and turn people away.
BUT the people who are so over priced its comical actually offend me ....hahahaha

I agree with 99SS and wannadrag's post about requiring some number of posts before you can sell something. But on the other hand do these jokers think that our community of well seasoned B body experts will even take an add like that seriously?

And about not being able to comment on for sale ads. This IS a discussion forum, right? I see nothing wrong with a polite comment recommending to the seller that his price is out of line vs. condition (if that's the case) complete with examples and facts. Favorable comments seem to be allowed so why not the opposite. If someone gets out of line then lock the thread. Personally I'd like to run some of these idiots out of our little corner of cyberspace on a rail but that's just me.

I agree with Bruzilla, if it wasn't for these forums and the net, I would have never been able to get my car going. I'm glad to see others post their stuff, somebody somewhere might need that part they have been after. These posters will learn soon enough that they are way overpriced. Us Mopar enthusiasts are a good and smart bunch, we all know better.....

I think we should be able to comment....not trash, but comment. It could keep a newbie from making an expensive mistake.

what he said ^^^^^ :icon_thumright: I was a newbie not that long ago. Maybe you guys forgot what it's like to be a newb. I came here to be educated by the knowledgeable. Tell it like it is, if it's overpriced crap tell em so.

Compaired to what a lot of you guys know here I will always be a newbie. I have bought a few things here which I think were good deals.

The problem is people now days are to sensative. They basically cant handle the truth. They can insult our intellegence all day long y posting overpriced junk, and when you tell them so they cry foul. Nobody is forgetting what its like to be new. I try to learn new stuff all the time. But if you cant even bother to make your first post in the welcome section and instead go straight to the for sale section to try and pass off some crap for way to much. Really? Where do you think you are? I agree with having a post limit to sell stuff. Too much crap and good people getting burned out there. Not cool
