my wifes 70 belvedere project (long story)

Well I dont think you could really call it nice. Its a little bit wavy in places if you sight right down the sides of the panels. its not quite as good as I had hoped it would be, but for a guy with central tremor and arthritis in his hands its not too bad. My wife thinks it looks great. I guess I,m my own worst critic. it has been quite a while since I have posted anything on the car. I have gotten a lot done on it since my last post and finally got all the pics off the camera so I will put a bunch of them up as soon as I can and apologise for not keeping up with the postings.

some pics "finally"

getting closer! plymouth 012.jpgplymouth 014.jpgplymouth 081.jpgplymouth 082.jpgplymouth 085.jpgplymouth 088.jpgplymouth 091.jpgplymouth 099.jpgplymouth 105.jpg will try to get some more up later.

Still getting caught up with pics.

these are about a month ago. At this point all of the body panels are back on the car and is ready for sealer. Before spraying the sealer I decided to pull the rearend out and clean it up. hope to get those pics up tomarrow.plymouth 104.jpgplymouth 107.jpgplymouth 110.jpgplymouth 111.jpgplymouth 112.jpgplymouth 114.jpgplymouth 117.jpg sure was nice to see all of the panels back on the the old plymouth.

That colour may not be Plum Crazy/In-Violet or Panther Pink etc...but who cares - it looks great. The only ones that have to like it are yourselves. And you are making a great job or bringing life back to that really cool car. My fave is also the 70 Plymouth ...but I am biased of course. :headbang:

you are correct about the color. dont care for plum crazy myself but my wife wanted it. had some mixed to paint the engine compartment. didnt look right when I put it in the gun but sprayed it anyway. wife liked it much better and so did I. so basically it is a mismix paint. took the paint shop in bois 3 hrs to match it for the rest of the car because there is no code for it.so it is just a lighter pinker version of plum crazy. I,m glad they screwed up on it.

If you can come up with the mixing codes, patent it and give it your own name. Make lots of money. RETIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!

wouldnt that be nice. plink poly maybe? Before paint I pulled the rear end, cleaned all of the grease and most of the rust and sealed everything up. lots of pitting on the case so painted with hammered finnish. doesnt look too bad.vernspics 011.jpgvernspics 012.jpgvernspics 016.jpgvernspics 021.jpg

Great work and awesome project, like a lot of people '70 is one of my favorite body years, especially for Plymouth :icon_thumleft: gonna have a really cool ride when you're done, keep up the good work!

that's what I told the wife just last night........

too much rust pitting to sand so i went over evreything with a wire brush on the drill gun. the hammered finnish paint helped to hide the pitting.

Nice turning out really nice, good for you! Its great how this has worked out for you, its not easy but it will be worth it in the end. HOpe to see this one on the road soon, Im still working on mine too, going on six years..time and money ,never enough of either...
best wishes CD Boise ID. USA

Still getting caght up on the pics

Finally got some paint on it 2 weeks ago.didnt get as much clear on it as i wanted. the shop i got the paint from said that 1 gallon of clear should get me 3 coates but it didnt. i only got 2. so i wasnt able to sand all of the orange peel out before taking the buffer to it. right now i am trying to find all of the parts that have been boxed up for years and see what i am missing.one thing i kvernspics 030.jpgvernspics 031.jpgvernspics 033.jpgvernspics 034.jpgbelverdere 002.jpgbelverdere 012.jpgnow i need is front seat belts. do any of you know where i can get either used or aftermarket 3 point belts for bucket seats.

Looking good, that color is awesome. And try looking around ebay for the seatbelts, always decent cheap aftermarket stuff on there or maybe a deal on some useable used ones.
