I have a 68 charger (yes a second one) and it was "modified" with this mysterious rear end. Any have an idea what it is?

Need a more of a straight in shot of the back but it looks like a GM 10 bolt to me from that angle....

Looks like either the GM10 bolt or an 8.25 Mopar. I can make out what I think is a drain plug on the right side.

A picture straight on and closer would help but it looks like an 8.25 (vs a GM10) to me. What's the BP? Although it's possible to change it, very few people are going to go through the trouble of replacing or filling/redrilling on either an 8.25 or a GM10.

Its hard to tell but it looks like there may be a wrinkle in the rear cover along the bottom. The camera angle is not real clear to pick it out for sure. If it does then it is most likely a 67-72 GM passenger car 10 bolt.

To be more precise I would say 67-74 camaro or nova or their respective clones. It was called a GM 8.25 (if it has the wrinkle in the cover). If the cover is smooth it would be a GM 8.5 likely 75-81 camaro or nova or their respective clones. The 8.5 is a good axle with many options. The 8.25 was so-so with fewer options.

Here's a GM 10 bolt housing (and cover), looks very similar.

Sure looks like an 8.25 to me with the vent tube and cover on the pass side, I don't think GM had that.

GM 10 bolt.
Don't see any pinion snubber mounting bosses.
The 71-81 Camaro and Firebird models all had a GM 10 bolt, 8.5" axle. The 70-81 Camaro/Firebird had a body mounted pinion snubber, it was attached to the reinforced pad above the center section.
I agree that this picture isn't clear enough to determine the origin. The wheel lug pattern would really help.
Oh, the GM 10 bolt had a stamping on the RH axle tube about halfway between the diff and brake backing plate. It faced forward and slightly up. It was often a 2 digit code starting with the letter P. I recall a PY being a 3.73 Posi...

Looks like a non-HP application......equals junk.

I'm finally in the same place as my cars. Here are more pics of that mystery rear end.

10 bolts. No filler plug on the back plate.
