Name your favorite off brand muscle car

My first car was a '68 Chevelle SS 396 / 4 spd that some previous owner put a 307 / power glide in - slow but looked cool so I have a soft spot for them. If there were no Mopars I'd be a Ford guy - any '67-73 fastback Mustang, '68- 71 Torino and a few others. If I had to narrow it down it would be a '70, either a Boss 302 or 429 or a Mach 1 with a Cleveland or 428.

68 Holiday Coupe Cutlass W31 ram rod 350, 4 speed
(sold mine in 2002)

65 Catalina 421,4 spd, 67 GTO, 67 Cutlass all must be big cube and 4 speed

I had a friend that had one, it was cool
He got into trouble and the car was gone. I don't know where I would have bought it.
After a few years he got his act together and he sobered up but we never spoke much after that then he died from lung cancer.

I bought an 87 5.7 IROC Z brand new, back when Chrysler didn't offer any V8 rear wheel drive vehicles!

first time I put a rear clip on a car it was an 85 IROC...... :blah:

it was a red T top car, and I scored a red hard top clip ......... it was a good hack, and the T tops never leaked again! :D

oddly enough i had a classmate whose dad bought him a '69 ss chevelle. and pulled the 396 and put in a 307 before he could have it.

I had two IROC Z 28 cars, the first one I bought new didn't have T tops. I ordered the car with every performance option and nothing else, not even AC. The second one was the same car,but with T tops,AC and every option. The first one would run circles around the loaded one. Both were 1987 5.7 350 cars. The first one was burgundy with black leather interior, the second one was red with red cloth interior.

A lot of guys who blew up the engines in their muscle cars did this kind of thing during the gas crunch. My friend bought a Charger R/T legit car by the numbers, and it had a 318 two barrel in it.

The guy I bought it off had at least one other Chevelle and a few other Chevys in his yard in various stages of repair, my guess is he pulled the 396/4 spd for one of his other cars and just thru in the 307/ powerglide to sell the `68. In hindsight the 307 probably saved my life as being a 17 yr old kid doing a lot of stupid things if I had any real power I would have ended up like some others in my area - wrapped around a tree or pole.
